Top football man, as they say, charismatic and synonymous with Euro 96. Great coach here and abroad. RIP
Re: Terry Venables RIP
Sad news. He was one of the real characters of the game.
Re: Terry Venables RIP
Sorry to hear this sad news.
Probably in part due to my age at the time, but Euro 96 remains my favourite tournament watching England.

Re: Terry Venables RIP
RIP Terry. Remember him playing for Spurs and QPR, then as co-author of a football book called ‘they used to play on grass’ and also co-writer of Hazel as Bosscat has pointed out. My third favourite England manager behind the sirs Alf and Bobby.

Re: Terry Venables RIP
Just seen this. Damn good player too in the 1960s and 70s - and he made a hell of a difference to England when he replaced Graham Taylor. Always a shame that he was unable to continue in that role.
A bit of a Cockney spiv undoubtedly, but a great football man.

RIP Terry Venables.
Great player and manager especially his time as England manager.
The Euro 96 game v Holland was one of the greatest England performances ever.

RIP, El Tel.
I know that distance lends enhancement and all that, but he seemed to be a manager with passion and sincerity - not an automaton dependent on metrics.

RIP, I remember reading an article that when he got the Barcelona job he pulled a couple of cigars out from his sock and gave one to the Barcelona president during the interview and that got him the job.
England were a joy with him.

RIP-one of the finest and most popular managers of our country-with his own brand of really entertaining football. Suspect he was an excellent after dinner speaker too-the master of the one liners

Re: Terry Venables RIP
One of Footballs truely great characters.
Remember him as a very good player with Spurs & QPR & as a top manager.
Transformed the England side, but didn't suit the Suits.
R.I.P Terry.
Thanks for some great memories.
