If it’s not a wind up I would chauffeur him up to the North East for free. Gotta be a wind up though.burnley007 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 4:26 pmcheeky beggars!!

Be nice of us to develop a player for another clubs benefit to the detriment of the on pitch performances.

A fine opportunity to reflect on how lucky we are to have fan coverage of the club that is actually good.

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
James’ stats on shot stopping are far worse than Pope, 2 goals conceded worse than is expected goals conceded. Contrast with Kaminski at Luton, top of the league on that stat, 6 goals better than expected. Swap those stats around and we can swap the team league positions too.
Then we get the distribution. OK but not Muric levels nor Allison / Ederson / Raya levels.
But in a 21 year old keeper the growth should be enormous. Our sensible fans (the majority believe it or not) know that he is a good keeper, the problem is playing half a dozen very young players in the same starting lineup with another few slightly older but inexperienced on top of that.

Non sensible fan here .Trafford is amongst the poorest keepers we've had
He can't collect crosses or command his defence
I would swop him for Nick "Shot stopper "Pope in a heartbeat

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
Surely xG stat in relation to the keeper is only relevant if they save it. Could have xG of 5 and the striker blasts everything wide which is nothing to do with how well the GK plays.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 5:22 pmJames’ stats on shot stopping are far worse than Pope, 2 goals conceded worse than is expected goals conceded. He is absolutely nowhere near the worst keeper we've had.
I could give you 20 off the top of my head far worse than James Trafford.

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
For the Trafford fans who think he's got something -
Can you please tell me a save he's made this year that was more than a standard/routine save?
Something Nick Pope esque where he's pulled out some worldies from point blanc range or a Heaton type against Ibrahimovic - anyone?

I think we would all accept that NP is the better goalkeeper.

Re: Trafford already lined up to replace Pope
Since around 1964, brought up on Blacklaw and Thomson. I had a chuckle to myself when I saw the Gooners score that header from about 2 yds out. Blacklaw would have taken his head off.

I've tried to see it but I don't think he deserves to be anywhere near starting.

A while back I posted an opinion that, assuming he would be omitted from the starting 11, we should have sold or loaned Muric and signed an experienced (PL level) keeper.

I’d be massively delighted if we even just got our money back.
No where near ready for premier league football. Don’t see all this alleged potential either, all I see is a young inexperienced keeper with no presence or confidence.

Anyone suggesting our current keeper is the worst we’ve had is demonstrating not insight but ignorance. Not even close, and that includes previous keepers at their prime… not when they turned out for us.

The lads confidence must be on the floor. Just hope he never comes on here and reads this tripe.
Again, he will play for England and be the best keeper we have had - AGAIN, some fans can see it and some clearly can not !
Just a thought - support the lad ! Worth a try yeah ?
