Can’t believe Mbappe is wasting away with PSG, absolute manufactured club who play in a farmers league.
They should go every season unbeaten with the money and squad they have compared to others in that league.

Re: Tonight’s football
That ref should literally be sacked tonight
Re: Tonight’s football
Football is done if that’s a pen and he’s the best ref in the world. Absolutely tragic.
Re: Tonight’s football
I have no words to describe that penalty decision awarded to PSG. This is now taking the ****, corruption can be the only answer. It comes off his chest and hits his elbow? Football is killing itself.

Re: Tonight’s football
How can you watch that and think handball. Crazy crazy stuff. I really don’t know what’s happened to this game. Matches literally just being decided on deflections onto arms and players falling over in the box. The majority of the 90 minutes is becoming totally irrelevant. The whole thing needs a big rethink.

I’m literally losing interest in football day by day. I never thought I’d say that but I can see myself in 10 years time with zero interest unless things change.
Re: Tonight’s football
Absolute travesty. Truly unbelievable decision. I thought he was one ref that would have the balls to stick with his decision even after being sent to the monitor.

Newcastle Utd....robbed
Just watched all the game against PSG, Newcastle were robbed of a win, never in a million years was that a pen, it comes off his chest & onto his arm, once again a VAR check & penalty given, absolute scandal, McCoist going metal i agree with him 100%, this guy reffed the Champions Leage Final & the World Cup Final......what can you do when the best ref in the world gets it WRONG...felt so sorry for the mags. VAR has to go.
Re: Tonight’s football
VAR has had another bad few days. There's no way that should be given as a penalty. VAR must tell the ref they think it is one and then he just seems to zoom in for confirmation it hit an arm- he didn't look interested in anything before it.
A truly bizarre decision. Looks a bit fishy

Re: Tonight’s football
It's too close to give a pen although for that but, once again, refs are looking at slow motion replays and looking for specific things- arm in unnatural position, made the body bigger etc - so you can see why he's given it from some angles.
Doesn't matter it came off his chest btw, that's not in the law.
As ever it comes down to the fact that referees know the laws but don't understand the game.

Re: Newcastle Utd....robbed
The referee was good throughout the whole game until VAR decided to interfere.
ONce Big Brother gets involved at the highest level (UEFA and FIFA) the referees are under pressure to change decisions in order to ensure that they can continue refereeing at the highest level.
THis became apparent in the 2018 World Cup Final when the ref was called to the screen, reviewed the scene and was returning onto the field and sticking with his original decision, however, he was then instructed to return to the monitor and he then changed his decision and gave a penalty to France which was a ludicrous decision.
Nothing relating to VAR has improved since then, it is a scourge on football at the highest levels.

Re: Newcastle Utd....robbed
My heart absolutely bleeds for them
Re: Newcastle Utd....robbed
This is an extract from the rules:
"It is an offence if a player:
- deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball
- touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation."
Apparently, refs have also been told to be more lenient when a ball is fired from close range or when it's deflected from another part of the body.
What a ridiculous, disgraceful decision. First of all the VAR deciding that it was worth looking at then the ref concluding it was handball. It wasn't even a subjective or debatable decision. It was quite clearly not handball!

Re: Newcastle Utd....robbed
Like iv already said, absolute disgraceful decision, i am Burnley thru n thru, but what can we do about it the answer is nowt, these decisions can cost clubs millions ( not that Newcstle need it ) but the game has to be fair & its not, Sat/tues are days to go & enjoy a match, that is not happening, VAR is sucking the air & life out of the game, a few years back we only needed the linesmans flag to tell us a player was off, now its blue lines/red lines, any lines will do, elbow offside, boot offside etc etc, what does the future hold, the game is dying....rant over.....for now, i hope im not coming on a 550mile round trip on Sat to be told the goal we just scored was offside thanks to VAR butting in. .

Re: Newcastle Utd....robbed
There’s a saying be careful what you wish for & for years some people were endlessly complaining about the decisions & here we are. It would have been a lot easier to just accept that humans make mistakes & aren't perfect, the old system had it’s faults for sure but things operated smoother.
Re: Newcastle Utd....robbed
It’s all about trying to find reasons to give it rather than not. I’ve said since day one it’s going to ruin the game and in my opinion it is. We had proper football back in the 60/70s

Re: Newcastle Utd....robbed
Completely predictable. You have on the one side a team of upstarts from some northern part of the UK and on the other PSG, the darlings of UEFA who needed a little help to ensure they have qualification in their own hands. The game is no longer fair.

Re: Newcastle Utd....robbed
Couldn’t care less about Newcastle but VAR has made a North East Counties League match more enjoyable and exciting to watch than a top end Champions League game.
It’s like there’s two different sports now and I know which one I prefer.
