Team for Sheff United?

Post by CoolClaret » Thu Nov 30, 2023 3:52 pm

How do you think we’ll lineup? Unchanged or a tinker?

For me the last thing I fancy is conceding a set piece to them lot.

Ekdal and Muric straight in, no two questions… I’d even be tempted to bench Beyer but who for is the question 😅 Delcroix I think looked better at LCB but would you start him?

Ekdal clever player in both boxes, 7 goals for his prior club in 50 appearances and is probably the best in the air that we have.

Obviously VK will pick Traff so let’s hope he has a good ‘un

Feel Vitinho and JBG have gotten a bit of a partnership going on so I’d stick with them, despite Vitinho probably not being quite as good defensively as Connor Roberts.

(and Muric saved a ton away at Bramall lane last year, Vitinho/Maatsen/Beyer were diabolical defending the aerial onslaught)

———————Muric
Vitinho-Ekdal-Beyer*-Taylor
——-—Berge-Brownhill
—JBG————————Koleosho
———-Amdouni-Jay

Something along those lines.

Bit of a pub side, Sheff United. They'll try and rough us up a wee bit because they are not very good.
The points they acquired recently were from a dodgy last minute pen and, somehow, surviving a fearful battering at Brighton.
We should play slick, attacking football with the side that started v WHU if possible and hope officials do their fricking job.

A week on from the panic about West Ham and corners now it's Sheff Utd to be feared. The blaming the defenders and excusing Muric of any fault for conceding 5 in a game in a lower league does very little to convince that some don't have an agenda.

Same team as last week with the 1 change possibly Ekdal in for O Shea

Go back and rewatch the game - look at non bias player ratings and saves made/crosses caught.

Easy to just throw shade though like you always do.

Same team for me excepting that we simply must get Ekdal into the side for O'Shea the moment it is possible from a fitness perspective.

Ekdal at cb. Put Beyer or O'Shea at rb. Vitineo will be mullered by Robinson and the rest at the back post, from cross after cross after cross.

I’d be interested to see either of them at fullback for this one as well.

Still have to play our game but minimising their chance of success with a slight personnel tweak seems sensible

Plus Ekdal would be a lot more of a threat at our corners

We all know that golden boy will be in the nets.

I’d like to see Ekdal playing aswell however I don’t think he will get picked either.

Berge and Brownhill need to stay as a partnership in central midfield. Amdouni needs to play in the advanced centre mid role, I’d like to see Zaroury at left wing and Brun Larsen on the right but he will play Koleosho and JBG. And there’s no option but to play Jay up top.

I'd go three at the back;

GK
O'Shea - Ekdal - Beyer
Roberts - Berge - Cullen - Taylor
JBG - Amdouni - Koleosho

Something like this maybe?

GK
Roberts Ekdal Beyer Taylor
Berge Brownhill Cullen
JBG or Amdouni?, Jay Rod, Koleosho

If Cork was fit he would start this game for me and give us 60 minutes and his leadership
Any of the fast pacy wingers would be 60 minute changes

Trafford
O’Shea Ekdal Beyer Taylor
Massengo Brownhill
JBG Berge Koleosho
Amdouni

Time to take a risk or two and Massengo looked good enough to warrant a chance. We can’t do any worse and he already had 100 games experience albeit at a lower level

Even a draw tomorrow is no good. It’s win or bust

VK will probably go with the same team that has got beaten twice thinking the performance is getting better & then will wonder why we get beat again.
We have got to choose a team that can beat our opponents which this week is Sheff Utd, who will pose a completely different threat to Arsenal & West Ham.
For me ;-
Trafford ( through clenched teeth)
O Shea Beyer Taylor
Roberts Berge Brownhill Vitinho
JGB Amdouni Koleosho

Vincent said in his interview that there's a issue with one player and he would need to make a call to the club dr , so we could be missing 1 plus Muric and Cork.

Most likely. They did very well too so all the reasons to start with the same team.

Though I would be tempted to bench Jay for Ramsey who's way faster and runs smart into spaces. Amdouni could play deeper. First half against United we played like that and it looked great. Having in mind we will have most possession we might do better with a player that's more involved in ball circulation.

Or Obafemi could start. Probably VK likes the fight in Jay Rod, to be fair on him he does do a whole lot for the team. Yet I would like a more dangerous striker, someone who actually makes those runs and can hold a ball, actually scores a goal.

Foster where are you mate!? This team needs his main man up front.

Some ridiculous permutations this week on line ups. VK will believe he now has close to his best eleven, with a tweak here and there..For me Ekdal please alongside Beyer and maybe Ramsey for JBG for some creativity in the final third

I have been thinking this too.
Would like a fluid front 2 of Amdouni & Ramsey.
They would be frightening together. I think they score goals potentially too.

same team for me. I think the recent consistency in the starting line up has helped the team and there have been positives to pull from each performance since Palace. Kompany needs to improve his choice/decision for subs and not make changes for the sake of it.

We can debate what is the best team but I think we stay unchanged, now is not the time to start experimenting again.

After last week a win would put us all in a more positive mood.

I wasn't happy at 2pm last week when the teams were announced but they played well for 85 minutes so seen as Muric isn't fit I'd stick with the same 11, the poor subs and game management lost us the game last week nothing else.
If Amdouni and Koleosho are as effective against this lot we should win comfortably, the use of subs is key hope VK has learnt.
Obafemi for Jay Rod is the only change I'd be mulling over

Normally I would agree but with Sheff Utd style of play a Championship type of player may suit better the situation so O Shea may fit the bill better for this match than Ekdal even though Ekdal is a far better footballer

Just looking at the recent form sequences for both clubs as to how they are performing Home and Away and you see a whole string of letters LLLDLLLDDLLLLDDLLLDLL. Whether either team has the capability to break that sequence is anybody’s guess to be honest, whatever the team or formation.

If obafemi is now fit, it was baffling why he didn't come in to relieve Jay. He is strong and quick, giving a different option to hold it up and in behind. He should be a consideration to start if fit enough. We need a different option with which to longer when we have to. Jay did OK in the air vs west ham, but won't offer anything in behind.

Because its a Premier league team sheet by name, and name only with 2 or 3 of the regular starters, they're average championship players at best... ironically they play in the back 5.

And people are still s ratching their heads at why we are giving away soft goals and shipping 2 a game most of which are self inflicted.

It's been Christmas since August playing against us with all the gifts being handed out.

Vitinho should not be our right back.
Been decent last 3 games. Isn't much between him and Roberts and an upgrade is needed

Has to be same team, simple as. Starting line-up earned a win against West Ham.

All the players should be good enough to play against Sheffield United at home.
If they're not then get shut asap

Same team I’d imagine , though like to see Ekdal start . Sheff Utd are dreadful , they literally offer nothing except rough house tactics . If we play like we did against West Ham for 80 mins we’ll beat them comfortably.
