Last time we won by 5-0 in top division
Apologies if this has been covered in previous threads……
Discussion with friends after the match with regards to our highest wins in Premier League and the old Division One.
My opening gambit was remembering a 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest at a rain soaked, mud splattering day when Steve Kindon scored a hat-trick (circa 1970?).
We could remember lots of 4’s any others though?

February 21st 1970. This indeed was the last 5 goal winning margin in the top flight prior to today. As you say, a Kindon hat trick plus an own goal & 1 from Arthur Bellamy gave us the win in front of just 11185 fans.
Prior to this, the next most recent was on April 21st 1964 when we beat Spurs 7-2 on the Turf in the last game of the season.

I was at that game but don't remember any of it except the score and a pre match incident.
I was walking towards the ground with Dave Burnley, both wearing scarves round our necks as was the fashion. A horde of Forest fans came across the road towards us. 'Gis your scarf mate' and just took them and ran off. Nothing we could do except enjoy the result later. I never wore a scarf at a game again.

Would have been 11184 without me!. Am I correct in thinking that this was Harry Potts last game in charge in his first spell as Manager before going ""upstairs" and Leighton James debut?sjb wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 11:19 pmFebruary 21st 1970. Yes and no. You are correct about Potts, but James's debut was the following season. It was at home to Forest so that's probably what was confusing you.

It was Chapman who scored the sliced own goal, prompting a chant of Kindon 2 Chapman 1.sjb wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 11:19 pmFebruary 21st 1970. I also had an incident with some Forest fans. I was on my own, just about to turn left at the intersection of the cricket ground and Brunshaw Road, when a large group of Forest fans came around the corner, one of them kicking me viciously in the shin. Worth it for the result, though.Hipper wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 9:35 amI was at that game but don't remember any of it except the score and a pre match incident.
