Mission to Burnley 2
After having a brief appearance in season 1.
Had a long conversation with Pace on Sat in the Fan Zone.
Forms being sent out to sign in case we make the cut for season 2.
They rang today to ask questions and let me know the forms are being sent out. Going to film till May and then do the cutting.
Hope it’s as good as the first one.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
So have they been filming all season or just started?
Everyone in it had to sign a form?
I’m really shocked they haven’t sold & released it abroad, particularly in the US given what they’re trying to do there!

I really don’t understand this. You’re already filmed in it?

Fair enough, haven’t heard that specific comment from Watt. But obviously there’s a financial benefit to any investment so I’m not sure we’ve got any great plans to generate any significant interest in the USA - I’m not sure any American network would be interested in broadcasting a documentary about Burnley either.
Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Why do people like Lowbank feel the need to regularly make up stories on here?

The Wrexham documentary is about two very famous Hollywood actors buying a football club.

Think there’s a few in America that fancy something that feels raw and a bit more authentic - that’s the charm that we can offer compared to some of the more ‘polished’ teams if you will.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:22 pmFair enough, haven’t heard that specific comment from Watt. The Wrexham story has that sort of duality of A lister celeb x run down Welsh town in the doldrums.
It’s a good story if marketed properly.

Yes he’s said it a few times in various different interviews. I don’t think he’d be quite so active on social media otherwise.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:22 pmFair enough, haven’t heard that specific comment from Watt. I thought with JJ and DP investing, and ALK being American, there was an angle on it for the US networks. But obviously not.

Probably less interest in a group of investment bankers buying a football club though.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:36 pmThink there’s a few in America that fancy something that feels raw and a bit more authentic - that’s the charm that we can offer compared to some of the more ‘polished’ teams if you will.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Massively disagree. That on its own is a pretty boring story.
Just like if Rob/Ryan would have bought an MLS team or something. It's the authenticity and rawness of Wrexham which give that story it's appeal.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Yes I know - well it was about that but it’s not really anymore….though of course they both still have a prominent role in the doc. A lot of this episodes are about Wrexham as a community, the history, the fans, players families etc…..all things that you would think have zero interest to Americans.
JJ Watt is arguably every bit as well known in America as the Wrexham owners and within sports fans he is more well known. He has been regularly appearing on some of the biggest TV shows - sporting and non sporting in America with viewing figures that dwarf anything over here. There is rarely an interview when he is not talking at length about Burnley. Part of his role is to promote the club in North America and awareness and interest in Burnley has definitely increased with his involvement.

He won’t be as well known as Ryan Reynolds but he’s probably better known than the other one.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:20 pmYes I know - well it was about that but it’s not really anymore….though of course they both still have a prominent role in the doc. Either way, I think both of the Wrexham owners come across as a pair of clowns.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Seriously why do you have a problem with me.
Series one Jean who I meet before games has a go at pace for tables not being clean. Episode 4 I am clearly in camera. Ct or claret till I die can clearly identify me.
Pace came up to us on Sat and we spoke to him for several minutes we had a laugh about Jean calling him out to clean the table and then went on to have some good discussions about BFC, Tella , foster and how it was going.
Probably not making the cut for series 2 but clearly was in series 1.

What's Nigel Evans up to in that picture ?

Ah, had no idea. Thanks for explaining. Really pleased a second season is being filmed.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:34 pmYes, season started in August! I was filmed talking to Alan at one of the games, taken to one side after and asked for my contact details. They sent the form and I signed it.
I personally thought there are a lot of ways they could improve the first. More social media coverage, more dressing room stuff, more behind the scenes boardroom stuff, more transfer window coverage, etc, etc. Basically just a real warts and all of running a football club which didn’t really come across as much as it could have last time imo.
Will be brilliant if we escape the drop.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
yes, the controversial and potentially libellous one regarding one of our players - I know Alan has seen the tweet so wondered if you spoke to him about it that's all.
Re: Mission to Burnley 2
I understood that "Bank of Dave" proved very popular in the states and created a lot of interest in Burnley. Following it up with "Mission to Burnley" seems the next logical step so I'm a bit surprised that didn't happen.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:22 pmFair enough, haven’t heard that specific comment from Watt. I've always thought that Pace et al wanted to grow the brand in the states and that the "Mormon Market" was part of their focus. Pace's religious beliefs, whilst not in your face, were a feature of the documentary and would have appealed too many of those who share them.
Just my take on it.

I have to say I think he is a great owner.
7 straight home defeats and he is out and about with the fans on camera, didn’t see any bodyguards .

Maybe he wasn’t the one threatened by the mafia?
Re: Mission to Burnley 2
It's now been announced that the first season will be shown on Peacock in the US.
Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Even if its been commissioned i can't see this ever seeing the light of day. Sky associate with success not abject failure. They won't give airtime to this surely unless we have a miraculous second half of season turnaround??
Re: Mission to Burnley 2
One of the problems with the first series (apart from it being a promo puff piece) was the lack of jeopardy. We ran away with the league and there wasn't much to be concerned about.

If all they want is success please explain Sunderland to me.

He did, you’re right. Not much doing on that front though (unless he helped persuade DP).
Any good news on this front would be much welcomed at the moment!
