The pass was fine. It was Berge’s touch that caused the goal.

Trafford may have gathered in his hands initially. Maybe inexperienced or maybe how he’s coached.
Not a cat in hells chance Muric picks that up last season, so the tactics must be the same.

Trafford played a couple of Muric style passes through the midfield tonight, too.

It is, we didn't have the composure to score and they did. Also, credit has to go to their keeper who made good saves.

We are always going to make some mistakes. It's the way we play, we need to take our chances.

These mistakes aren't going to stop, we need to out score our opposition.

Spot on.

Its o shea. He has loads of time to get rid of the ball downfield, the man closing him has to make up 30 yards and Berge is facing his own goal with a man closing him from behind, one either side and one who has just closed Trafford so he can't put the ball anywhere at all ex ept into the diagonal where the 4 players all spring on him.

But until the n we had been playing well - our best effort came after Luca went off too so the bullshit about JBG making us look worse is nonsense too.

We can still do this - great performance so far

Facing his own goal with men all around him, where exactly is he booting it to?

Totally disagree based on the replays I’ve seen, Berge wins it fine but then takes a heavy touch and concedes possession.

Ridiculous goal to give away just before half time. We really play suicide football at the back sometimes. Also can't understand bringing Guddy on to replace Luca, and then playing Laarsen on the left. I'm really annoyed.

I totally disagree with you too, it was the dictionary definition of a hospital pass - O’Shea had other options but chose to pass to Berge who had two Wolves players closing in. Berge was the dummy opening up the pass to go further upfield but O’Shea made the wrong choice. It happens, but happens too often for my liking.

It’s OK to have a different opinion though, it’s what makes it interesting :)

I guarantee that entire routine is rehearsed on the training pitch multiple times.

Take issue with VK not O’Shea there.

Issue was you can’t usually take more than one quick touch then play but Wolves have got the press spot in

We normally recycle one touch then wide back out but if you see both sides are blocked and Berge scanned but knew he had nowhere to go hence the hesitation on his touch.

Wolves positioning is good, but it was avoidable it Kompany fault because we sometimes look for football solutions when sometimes a big boot through it would do better.

Oh well not a bad half

Just seen it again, the pass is was a bit under hit but Berge really made a hash of it.

I’m not sure why Berge didn’t just boot it. He tried to take it in his stride and messed it up.

It’s just one of those things unfortunately. If we played like we did most of the half we should at least get a draw
Struggling with the Berge bashing. O'Shea plays it to him when he's facing goal with one yellow shirt behind him and one either side.
It was for O'Shea to look at the advancing Wolves shirts in front of him/advancing in Berge, bread the danger and belt it upfield towards a midfield position.

Yes but if every time you’re pressed you hoof it, you’re basically a long ball team again.

You sort of have to decide whether you’re playing it out from the back or not. And if you are you have to do it and accept that mistakes will occasionally be made.

As I said, Wolves did the same moments earlier but got away with it because they finished better than we did.

Hwang Hee-Chan takes a brilliant touch to set himself. Browny bangs it first time, partially scuffed. Thats the difference. You could argue that if we score, that play never happens.

Problem is, VK doesn’t trust Odobert or Tresor to track back like JBG, JBL and Koleosho do.

Nor do I to be honest, but does leave us looking really lacking pace now.
Then maybe VK should fire some f*cks into them and get them to do their job how he expects them to.

Perhaps the only downside to last season was that
the success masked a style of play which was always going to be a far tougher ask against Premier League teams.

I'm pretty sure you'll find various instances of posters referring to where we coughed it up but the opposition didn't take advantage. I suspect a great many winced at the prospect of it happening against much better teams and players.

And yet we keep doing it. In order to play this type of football out from the back error free we would need players who are much better. In a way I feel sorry for them as they are obviously being told to play this way. Going long isn't a crime.

What’s the solution? Hoof it every time? We just concede possession that way.

We nearly scored a while earlier because basically every team plays it out from the back. Difference is they took advantage of our error and we didn’t take advantage of theirs.

Poor goal to give away and we've got it all to do in the second half.
Hope we can up our game a little and get back into it but suspect Wolves
can't play that badly in the second half.

It starts with Trafford passing half a yard behind O shea, which makes him take an extra second than it should to get it under control and out of his feet.
Our side play far too many passes behind the target.

That's what the keeper is there for, to make good saves, but he would have diffused the situation had he picked the ball up in the lead up to the goal, simple as. Every team has become accustomed to he's uncertainty and indecisiveness, and exploit it.

Thanks again for being another sensible voice of reason.

Baffling people can't see it.

It puts more pressure/criticism on Traff as well because he can't play like that to the level that's required to be succesful in this league (as of now)
