Meanwhile Luton giving Arsenal a decent game.
I've nothing against Kompany's footballing principles, but they need to be alongside, not instead of, a degree of physicality and commitment which we seem to be lacking.

Seriously change the record.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:25 pmWe haven't been worthy of winning the game so I suppose it's only a point lost and an error by Sande Berger to go along with his error earlier in the season and those of O'Shea, Cullen, Trafford , Vitinho, Al Dakhil .
I apologise if I've left any player out but this is self inflicted wounding of the relegation material.

Re: Match Thread - Wolves v Burnley
A very disappointing loss.
Thought we were ok. We are definitely looking better. He seems to be getting his starting 11 sorted. I have no fear we will fight for survival. We are looking stronger, we're getting better at corners (n both directions). We desperately need someone who can put the ball in the net. I also think the keeper is starting to grow into the league.
Not all bad news.

Poor second half but we shouldn't have lost that one.
A 0-0 draw might have been a fair result.

Agree there, not the first (or 2nd, 3rd or 4th) time we’ve not turned up 2nd half. We looked tired out there and just overall struggle to match their fitness and physicality in key duels.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:27 pmThey are but we've shown we haven't learnt nor that we are capable of putting up a 90 minute performance against a PL side.

Hell fire, what a bitterly disappointing night after Saturday.
Quite obviously, the players we have bought for £100m are not good enough to play this system and it will take us down with a ridiculously low points total.

Re: Match Thread - Wolves v Burnley
Wrong substitution when Koleosho went off for me and made other changes too late. At least we look more solid than we were at the start of the season. Only lost that because of a cock up but it was frustrating to watch.

Dull, predicable, plodding - JBG substitution took away all threat and Wolves were comfortable from there on. Kompany needs to react quicker when he sees that nothing is happening.

Where was the urgency to go and get something from that game? I’m a little dumbfounded with that second half performance. Do Kompany and co not realise were cut adrift at the bottom?
Berge excellent. Ekdal slotted in very comfortably and showed what a class player he is.
Concerning that we’ve bought a million wingers yet are reliant on an 18 year old kid.
JBG substitution was the wrong one.
We ain’t staying up with Jay Rod leading the line. Hopefully Foster is back to give us a fighting chance.

Almost equal possession and we created more shooting opportunities.
Truth is we are a bit naive at this level, which is hardly surprising.
How I wish Foster would return very soon.

Genuinely believe we are a decent striker away from being there or thereabouts. Obviously the mistakes, but we are capable of creating chances, but lacking that killer instinct.

They waited for our mistake and punished it again.
We had our chances in first half and didn’t take them.
Second half disappointing.
Not too much in it, but we cannot afford to keep making the same mistakes

I thought we outplayed the “established” Premier League team in large parts of this game. We came undone with an error again, which without it would have been a good away point at Wolves.

Yes there's all the chatter about the signings and the playing from the back etc.
But we don't look anywhere close to being fit enough. And that's got to be bare minimum.

Why do we insist on trying to play "Total football" when teams like Wolves are happy to hoof it clear as and when required?

Sadly didn’t do enough in the attacking 3rd of the pitch. We at least gave ourselves a chance with only conceding 1 goal. I wish we would stop playing round with it at the back as it scares the s… out of me
Re: Match Thread - Wolves v Burnley
Was surely O'Shea playing it into Berge who had three men bearing down on him.

Hardly a performance in keeping with the majority of the season though is it. Clearly you are from down the road the amount of vitriol you have for individual players who play for the club you pretend to support.

It was almost a good performance and worthy of at least a point. However when you have to resort to playing Jay as your main front man, and JBG who looked totally pedestrian tonight, you give the opposition an advantage. How is JBG keeping out Tresor, Zarourry, Redmond all of whom can make something happen. Tresor showed glimpses of it tonight and needs to be getting more game time.Only have ourselves to blame. I liked the calming influence of Ekdal

I’ve resisted replying earlier in the thread to your total negativity shown, but after full time I’m taking the opportunity to ask you to please support the team during the game. It’s not constructive to constantly bicker and put down the teams efforts while they’re playing.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 9:25 pmWe haven't been worthy of winning the game so I suppose it's only a point lost and an error by Sande Berger to go along with his error earlier in the season and those of O'Shea, Cullen, Trafford , Vitinho, Al Dakhil .

Tonight showed we still haven't learnt anything, forget Saturday. Wolves were there for the taking and we let ourselves down again.
Please Vincent, start looking in the mirror and question yourself.
More of the same, is only going to lead to more wasted opportunities.

Re: Match Thread - Wolves v Burnley
JBG, JRod and Amdouni were very average, JBL nowhere near as effective on the left as he was on the right, perhaps Zaroury might have been the better swap for Koleosho, Berge and Brownhill were effective in midfield again and O'Shea had a superb game.
Having said that, apart from the mistake, the game had 0-0 very much stamped on it. After Luca went off we seem to be very static for long periods with no-one trying to break the line, crosses were generally from deep or came from Wolves' mistakes

No disappointment from me there.
A good 50 / 50 game. Just the one taken chance decided it.
Yes, we could do better in certain areas but I believe we are giving everyone a game now.
I'm not losing faith yet.

Re: Match Thread - Wolves v Burnley
I don’t really understand this. Both teams mixed it up tonight. We went direct quite frequently. Unfortunately without Foster there’s no one to run the channels. They made a major error which went unpunished, we made a major error and it was punished.

Have to say I'm surprised we didn't roll the dice o subs a bit earlier - Jay and Amdouni both struggled 2nd half and JBL was lost on the right.
Maddening that bar the self destruct goal that could have been another point.
