City’s with more than one team random thought

Post by ClaretsPadiham » Fri Dec 08, 2023 7:42 pm

With Birmingham being on TV tonight was just thinking about the city itself and Aston Villa, do/would Aston Villa fans say they are from Birmingham when asked in conversation ? The hatred between them is so big I couldn’t imagine a Villa fan saying they are from Birmingham, even though they are ??

Same with Everton they are from Liverpool but would/do they say they are from Liverpool ??

Same with Port Vale which is in Stoke, but they hate Stoke so can’t imagine them telling people they are from Stoke.

Don’t think there’s many more examples but it’s a strange one, wouldn’t want to tell someone you’re from the place of the team you hate and your biggest rivals.

Good job we are 12 miles away from the B@stards we don’t have the problem.

Geographically, it's hard to argue about where you are from.

Port Vale is particularly weird as there is no such place, it's in Burslem.

I’m sure Villa fans tell people they are from Birmingham. Most Brummie Blues fans announce themselves as blue noses.
With Everton, again I’m sure their fans say they are Liverpudlians first and then that they support the blues, or that they don’t support the red sh!te.

Would imagine Villa fans would say they are from Aston in Birmingham.

Villa fans are from Aston, a city in its own right, similar to Salford and Manchester. Everton is just a small suburb in Liverpool and Vale fans will tell you they’re from Burslem. Actually, Stoke wasn’t really a place, it’s a mass of towns placed together under one name. City Centre I believe is called Hanley. Similar to what they have done with Milton Keynes.

Aston is hardly a City in it’s own right. It’s got a smaller population than Nelson. I know a few Villa fans and they all say they are from Birmingham.

Way back in the last century, I worked with many Villa fans and there was absolutely no doubt that they saw themselves as Brummies.

Bristol teams have the same first name. Do they say they're from rovers or the city?

You'd have to be a very unusual person to not admit where you're from because you support Villa or Everton

The town of Burnley has the main club (Burnley FC) and a lesser known club called ******* Rovers.
