Re: Well done Vincent
His subs still confound me to be honest. I didn't agree with either Ramsay or Tresor.
Ramsay was unlucky with the injury ( and I hope he's ok) but Mike's lack of tackling around the box almost cost us the point. One in particular where he miscontrolled in the box which led to an off target shot that could have been very costly. That was followed by a couple of fancy backflicks in midfield which lost the ball and set up opposition attacks. He'd have been bottom of my list of subs to put on to preserve a point.

Re: Well done Vincent
We were completely and utterly dominated ,but for a suberb performance from Trafford and an absolute peach from Odobert we could have been buried alive and humiliated.
We’re gaining experience though ,and that Oderbet and Trafford are now properly “ blooded” there’s very tentative signs we can become a unit .

Agree with that but thought he did quite well before he came off (didn’t see why that was)?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 6:34 pmwithout wanting to **** on the chips I genuinely thought Ramsay for JBG was a complete head scratcher
Maybe didn’t stop the cross but was pretty tight and close to doing so. It was a fantastic ball.
Re: Well done Vincent
VK did better today with the substitutions but why did hesitate bringing them on, in the time they ready to go on and actually getting on Brighton scored you know they say about he who hesitates! but was glad to see he brought Ekdal on had he done that against WH we might not have thrown three points away

Re: Well done Vincent
So you think he's fixation with Ramsey is spot on ! Ramsey has given us the square root of nothing since he walked through the door. Maybe if he could get fit he could prove himself, but he's had strapping to he's leg on every single appearance, but vk continues to put him on the pitch, quite baffling.Belgianclaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 6:25 pmKudos to the gaffer also today: selection, set up and substitutions spot on
Re: Well done Vincent
The substitution of Ramsey for JBG was one of the daftest tactical decisions ive seen all season.
Im a fan of Kompany but thats just plain naivety, i have no doubt that Ramsey is a talented player but it was the totally wrong set of circumstances for him to be introduced.
Id be interested to know if hes ever played on the right of a 442, its a pretty specialist role that involves a hell of a lot of discipline, which many modern attacking players lack

Re: Well done Vincent
Ramsey shouldn’t be near the first team while this new team is developing in the league. I trust the manager with the investment in him, but bringing him on during this period isn’t worth risking results, in my opinion.
Re: Well done Vincent
Is it that hard to see Ramsey has a good work rate? presses aggressively wherever he can, good endurance, quick.
He was brought on to help Vitinho neutralise Brighton's very strong left wing.

His work rate is fine but its the lack of nouse and the constant losing possession in his own half thats the issue

Re: Well done Vincent
He's clearly putting people on to give them game time instead of putting the best option on. He played Ramsey out of position against Mitoma when he had Redmond or JBL or even Roberts he could have used. Which he did AFTER the equaliser.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 6:34 pmwithout wanting to **** on the chips I genuinely thought Ramsay for JBG was a complete head scratcher

Re: Well done Vincent
The temptation for VK is to start Ramsey. When he comes on as a sub at home he is usually that much faster than the rest who have been playing for 70/75 minutes that his aggressive runs take him beyond his teammates. If he was to come on to help defend a lead it would be difficult to do it in a defensive way. He would be more likely to be instructed to relieve the defence by his ball carrying and would be better supported with other sets of fresh legs alongside him. But integrating him at 1 down, level or 1 up will make it difficult for him while we are struggling to repel our opponents. A problem that will hopefully be solved in the weeks to come.
However I do see some confidence growing all over the pitch and this will help the team, whoever plays. Just keep supporting.

I think a lot of people on here are overlooking the fact that whether we agree or disagree with VK, we got the result we wanted. How many games have we just crumbled under pressure and yesterday we came through a storm and showed we can come away with a point.
I still don't think we are good enough to survive but we are looking a better team (albeit there was a very low bar to improve on).

I agree, but he can't keep making horrendus mistakes like replacing JBG with AR when he has more wingers than anyone else in world football.Kilson810 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 10:57 amI think a lot of people on here are overlooking the fact that whether we agree or disagree with VK, we got the result we wanted. Re: Well done Vincent
We were 1 0 up, nobody including the players wanted a draw . We were still looking relatively well structured and solid until the changes, from then on it became a total shambles.Kilson810 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 10:57 amI think a lot of people on here are overlooking the fact that whether we agree or disagree with VK, we got the result we wanted. Re: Well done Vincent
I do think AR was the wrong change but come on it's a great result, well above what we expected. No one can be disappointed with a draw at Brighton.
It's easy to say we were less solid as well due to subs, but I thought we had a fair share of shambolic moments in the first half as bad as (if not worse than) after the subs were made. Vit passing the ball to a Brighton player in the box. Beyer's easy header back to Trafford, which for some reason O'Shea came across him and hooked the ball into no man's land.
Re: Well done Vincent
They were all individual errors not structural. By thr end we didnt have a structure, it was a collapse every bit as bad as what weve seen earlier in the season. We just got away with one.

Re: Well done Vincent
Ironically I thought the Vitinho / JBG partnership was terrible first half but they really started to play second half.
In hindsight, Ramsey's introduction was counter productive albeit I can see that Mitoma was presenting a different challenge.

Anyway, on a more optimistic note, although VK stated that Koleosho won’t be playing until later in his he season, he also said that Foster has been making good progress and will back sooner rather than later.

Your post only makes sense if you think a point achieved at Brighton is more meaningful than the shambles you describe in your second paragraph.Kilson810 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 12:14 pmI do think AR was the wrong change but come on it's a great result, well above what we expected. Re: Well done Vincent
Obviously an away point at Brighton is fantastic and Trafford for all his weaknesses was outstanding yesterday We could easily have been hammered .. and then VK would have been slaughtered on here .:: we rode our luck ans
I’m hoping we can give a strong performance against Everton .

Is it that hard to see he's not been fit ever since he walked through the door. I get that it might have been the reason he was brought on, but he shouldn't be anywhere near the squad until he's fit enough to take the strapping off he's leg and play at least 70 minutes.

My main point was that we had a fair share of hairy moments before VKs subs as we did after them. Performances are important, but yes I personally would take 3 points and bad performance over no points and a better performance every day of the week.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:47 pmYour post only makes sense if you think a point achieved at Brighton is more meaningful than the shambles you describe in your second paragraph.

Well done Vincent ? For taking us to joint bottom of the prem at almost the half way point ?
While I remain optimistic we’re better than the dross around us, il save my giddy “ well done’s” until we reach safety .

Some interesting views on the AR substitution. I personally thought it was not a purely defensive one, but an attempt to relieve some of the pressure to get us further up the pitch. Obviously didn’t work out, but AR could and will no doubt do better in the future.
As regards the remarks concerning our position in the table: I was only referring to this particular game. However, not difficult to put a wet blanket on everything 🫣

Re: Well done Vincent
JBG had a fairly difficult few years with injury prior to Kompany coming in, and in all fairness he seems to have overcome it all. I reckon when Kompany subs JBG off it's never for tactical reasons, but actually because he values JBG so highly (rightly so) and he's doing what needs to be done to keep him out of that red zone where the risk of injury goes up. There comes a point where the players coming in for him need to step up, because you can't ask JBG to run himself into the ground for us every game - that's not sensible.

Ramsey is a complete player. My idea was that VK loves the way he presses the opponent. Together with Koleosho one of the hardest workers without the ball. Very quick and explosive over short distances. Reads the game well too.
But knowing VK he always wants to win this game, so could be ur right.
