I'm surprised by that. 20 odd thousand people in a ground with God knows how many cops lounging about outside waiting for the end of the game.

It's pretty pointless having them if they can't make their presence felt, bit like brandishing a gun to everybody but everybody's aware the gun doesn't contain any bullets.

Re: Everton fans in home end
They are doing their jobs outside the ground before and after the games.
Clearly, we need to be paying for a number of officers inside the stadium.
If it kicks off and those officers are involved then they bring in reinforcements from outside because it's likely to be several offences of public disorder and their collea could be in danger.
I can't imagine a set of circumstances even these days wheres there's brawling going on in a stadium but the cops won't get involved because they've not been hired.
Anyway, call them in and settle the bill later.

Re: Everton fans in home end
If we do and he’s authorised or even been aware of this he wants sacking. He’s risked the safety of man, woman and child in that area of the ground, and he’s either done it through greed - in that he shares the boards desire to bring in as much cash as possible on match days - or he’s done it through incompetence in that he couldn’t see any risk in it.
When this was discussed at board level, those people who know absolutely NOTHING about English football and how tribal it can be in the stands (and there’s plenty in the boardroom) should have been told unequivocally what this would lead to. That’s the ground safety officers role. He’s either said nothing, or said something but not been robust enough getting his point across, in which case he shares the blame with the board members who allowed it. Of course he could also have been very robust and was told to wind his neck in.
Anyone reckon we’ll ever find out who was truly responsible? Or is someone gonna be asked to fall on his sword to protect a fool?
This absolutely reeks of both greed and incompetence.

You think, and hope that those Everton supporters who purchased tickets will be banned from attending games at Burnley in future.

Whilst people sell tickets on it'll always happen people will be attending when they shouldn't, identifying & asking people in the thousands for ID is a logististical nightmare, all this will blow over until the next incident happens & the 1 after....

When we play Man Utd , Liverpool etc our stands will have plenty of their supporters in the home ends, Only chance some of them have of watching their team live. Seen it for years with Liverpool and Man Utd supporting work colleagues.,

I remember being one of many clarets in the Bury end (well down the side) Boxing Day 1999 ( I think). Bury season ticket holders complaining to the stewards they were surrounded by voiciferous Burnley fans. The steward moved the Bury fans.

I’d say the security levels are at the ground are humiliating. Away supporters in the home section and fighting breaking out in front of little kids is shameful. Leaving doors unlocked in the away concourse for supporters to wander into the management meeting room is humiliating.

As far as iam aware we are taking the word of some scummy Everton fan, who got caught, that the door was unlocked.

The Man Utd fan/vlogger angry ginge got tickets in the lower longside 10 minutes before kick off for this seasons game, after being let down for his tickets in the away end.
A normal Burnley fan wouldn't have been able to buy them seats.
Pace and Co seem to bend over backwards for away fans.

The vast majority of “ big clubs “ do get tickets in our ends but always seem to manage to keep their heads down ( as you do in such situations) The exceptions being those cheeky blameless, selfless ,cherubic like urchins from the other end of the M62.

Any news on the internal investigation?
I know it’s only been a few days, but I can’t imagine why it would take this long to work out why it happened… and ultimately, who is responsible for it.
Scapegoat hunting no doubt…

Probably hoping there's no bother on Boxing day and it will all blow over. Bit late to do anything when tickets have been put on sale so far ahead, apart from a greater security presence.

Re: Everton fans in home end
Dear Mr Pace... I am one of the Everton fans who bought a corporate ticket that included a seat in the James Hargreaves Upper Stand.
I paid some ridiculous high price for this.
By putting us all in a Home Stand in the way that you did surrounded by hundreds of home fans, we were placed in a dangerous and vulnerable position.
We are therefore seeking legal advice with a view to compensation for the stress and danger that you sanctioned, plus a refund of the money we paid and all travel expenses.
No club should place away supporters in such a position.
The details of our predicament and the subsequent ejection and injuries we suffered, are now with our solicitors.
That is me pretending to be an Everton supporter. Never mind their alleged behaviour, should they have been placed in this position in the first place.
Surely it is not rocket science to allocate seats in the lower corner of the Jimmy Mac Stand where things are more controllable and they don't have to be escorted by club officials up into the JHU. Shambles Burnley, utter shambles.

It looks like the investigation has been done. The pre-match advice for the Jimmy Mac has been updated - it also mentions tagedy chanting which it never has before. They're clearly expecting a lot of Scousers.
Burnley F.C. v Liverpool F.C.
Tuesday 26th December 2023, 1730 Kick-off
Please be aware that failure to adhere to the dress code may result in refusal of admission.
To maintain the integrity of the dress code, guests who wear a replica shirt under any jacket,
coat, jumper, etc., and later remove the outer garment will also be asked to leave.
Away Fans
Our hospitality lounges are mixed with home and away fans. If you are a supporter of the away
side, then we ask that you are respectful of this and act discreetly in the support of your team,
celebrations are to be kept to a minimum should the opposition team score as you are situated
in the home end of the stadium.
If any guests are negatively affecting the experience of others, may be asked to leave the
stadium. Please note if you are ejected, the lead booker may receive a Turf Moor stadium ban
and your home club will be notified if relevant.
Home Fans
We ask home fans to refrain from any behaviour or chanting meant to antagonise away
supporters. This includes but is not limited to tragedy chanting which Burnley FC have a zero-
tolerance policy towards.

Going to be a short investigation really. Knowingly sell hospitality package to large numbers of away fans, with seating in the home stand. Away fans, bouyed by numbers, sing and celebrate goals which aggregates home fans seated around them. State you will investigate. Inform away fans involved they can not buy tickets again, discipline home fans involved with stadium bans.
Continue to sell hospitality packages with away fans situated in the same home block.

Why have the Police and the local authority allowed the club to do this?
Are we in breach of the ground safety certificate, or does that just cover building structures.
What's the point of segregation?

The club's ground safety certificate is actually available to download from Lancashire County Council's website.
