In all my years of supporting the Clarets,I have never left a game before the end or missed watching a game on TV if I wasn't able to get to the Turf, today I switched that game off at 60 mins I honestly could not watch anymore, can't believe after last seasons highs this season has bombed so badly.

That’s a stupid argument though, how many 6ft players did they have? 7 or 8? How many do we have 3? Do the math, out matched.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 8:42 pmWhen you have Brownhill marking Onana on corners then yeah I think it comes down to coaching

Re: Awful
Match them up…
Keane - Beyer
Tarkowski - Berge
Doucoure - Delcroix
Godfrey - Dara
Calvert Lewin - Rodriguez
Onana - ?
Which ever way you look at it, Brownhill had to mark someone taller stronger and better in the air.

As fan's we have just got to accept we are just not good enough with this squad of players at this level and then comes the championship and it won't be easy, i personally feel the business model the club want as come to early because we are head of ourselves, we are just going to lick our wounds and hope we can bounce back up again..

If we marked man to man, Browny would take Godfrey. Onana is useful so give him someone more physical.

You forgot the Emojis KRBFC. Good football teams aren't measured by their height.
Barcelona's Champions league winning side of 2010/11 had Iniesta, Xavi , Pedro, Messi, David Villa, Alves and Mascherano - arguably the best club side in the history of the game.
The type of goals are irrelevant Everton dominated the first half because they overran our midfield 4.
It was obviously going to happen. And the bench has some very decent players on it who would have been much better suited to a game like this.....! So, I'm not pointing the finger at anyone but sometimes a bit of nous is more useful than Math...!

Re: Awful
Don’t really want understand how we try to defend set pieces. Cullen marking Tarky last time out. Vitinho this time. However it’s irrelevant if we’ve got a goalie unable to cope with being swamped and a defensive unit unable to protect him.
Totally predictable what happened today. We’re capable of matching a lot of teams on the ball but it’s like we didn’t realise last summer that PL sides would still provide a physical threat.
The failure to sign a ball winning CB and a commanding GK has cost us any chance of survival.

Completely out of his depth at this level, there's nothing to enjoy. Asking this team to stay in the Premier League is like asking children to swim the Atlantic wearing armbands.
This is the worst season in the history of Burnley Football Club.

You said 'That’s a stupid argument though, how many 6ft players did they have? 7 or 8? How many do we have 3? Do the math, out matched.'
So, I pointed out that arguably best club side in the world only had 3 or 4 players who were 6ft.
If you can't see the relevance I'm sure everyone else can so I suppose it works for them if not for you.

They'll be more teams close to us than that. Everton are much better than these. Results against worse teams are where we can gain points. Starting with Fullham.Westleigh wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 9:09 pmSo if we beat the teams around we’ll stay up ,that’s Luton,Sheff Utd,Notts Forest ,Bournemouth ,so we can get 3 more off Luton ,Sheff Utd ,Notts For,and Bournemouth that’ll give us another 12 points ,a grand total of 20 points ,please explain how we stop up with 20 points?
Re: Awful
I was replying to the point about Brownhill marking Onana at the corner. Basically they have more 6ft+ players than us so Brownhill would’ve had to mark someone taller regardless of how we match up marking wise at corners.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 11:40 pmYou said 'That’s a stupid argument though, how many 6ft players did they have? 7 or 8? I just feel so deflated after the highs of last season and the poor displays and recruitment of this one . There seems to be no fight or pride in this present squad and to be honest i really can't see us getting out of this predicament .

Yes but unfortunately we won't. On a few occasions now we have faced teams that are either out of form or forced into several changes and on each occasion we have failed to deliver anything other than a disappointing and inept performance. the sooner we all accept we are way out of our depth and destined for relegation the easier it will be.superdimitri wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 12:58 amThey'll be more teams close to us than that. On paper before the start of the season, like many other I was buzzing expecting mid table or more with all the potential talent . I think we have got greedy thinking we can turn young kids we bought for £2-15million and turn them into £40-£50M players. I think we have gone too far on the financial potential front. We have bet the silver ware and now things are starting to look grim. Won't recoup the transfer budget and left with a team with mixed ability not capable of surving in this league especially with this team.

Re: Awful
Who picked the side?
Vitinho was marking Tarkowski
At least have your biggest/best headers of the ball man mark their best/most physical?
Onana, DCL & Tarky biggest threats.
Vitinho and Brownhill marking two of them respectively - good one Vincent.
Re: Awful
I’d have to agree. Sick of reading “potential”. What is that?!? Many many players at far bugger clubs in the PL have had this “potential” down the years that go on to have mediocre careers down the league's. I don’t see “potential” with any of them. A few minutes here and there isn’t “potential”. You can grab any player from Leagues 1 and 2 that would be great for 2 minutes every 2 weeks.JohnMcGreal wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 1:11 amNobody knows for sure, but it looks like Phase One is to get relegated so that the players we signed in the summer look a bit better.

Re: Awful
He's not even close to an amazing goalkeeper. He's very young, a good shot stopper (very good for his age). He has a tremendous knack at making the simple stuff look hard- some saves you'd expect a keeper at this level to make have people raving.
His positioning is poor, he readjusts side to side and forwards and backwards a lot. Been caught out from range a lot and in no mans land for crosses or set pieces.
His reading of the game is still developing which is to be expected. Tipped one over for a corner yesterday that he should have left, done that a couple times before but generally with ones you can't take the chance at the time.
He can't command his area at all especially from set pieces, gets bullied, lacks either the strength or bravery to ram through a press.
His handling is suspect.
As good as his shot stopper reflexes are he has weak hands tending to parry back into trouble.
His distribution is not good enough for our style. Long range kicking isn't great but has few outlets. Short Range he's poor and is massively overused because of our system, he gets nervous and so do his defence.
He will be a top shot stopper and will probably develop at reading the game and commanding his area sufficiently to be a very very good PL keeper and England international. Right now I still don't think he's better than Muric at anything except shot stopping and even that I'm not sure.
Re: Awful
I noticed in the warm up he had the thinnest skinniest legs I’ve ever seen on a goalkeeper. Needs to bulk up down the gym. Looks like he hasn’t had any strength and conditioning. Would help him dealing with the corners he gets constantly bullied on at the moment.spt_claret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 11:54 amHe's not even close to an amazing goalkeeper. He’s played a hell of a lot of football as well for his age.
People make out like he’s Donnarumma coming through or something. Not for me. Total unnecessary signing.

The truth and reality is, a lot of these players simply are not good enough for this level and most never ever will be.
You can cry all you want about Muric or Trafford but the truth is neither are good enough at commanding their box.
You can use players not starting to hammer VK, pretend Larsen is some brilliant player who’s hard done by to not start. That is until he starts and you’re faced with reality, he’s bang average and not good enough.
He’s getting ten times more out of considerably worse group of players

They play 5 at the back, have fans who get behind the team, excellent on set pieces. They will always grind out a few results but let’s not act like they’re better than us, they’re sh**e too.
