Throw ins

Post by NewClaret » Sat Dec 16, 2023 11:28 pm

Anyone help me here?

Like corners, why are we so bad at them? And why do we take so long being bad at them at 2-0 down?

for over a season now our retention of the ball at throw-ins has been shocking!
Whenever we’re awarded a throw-in invariably we lose possession to the opposition…in stark contrast to the opposition which (like Everton today) retained possession easily and built attack from the throw.
Some years ago Liverpool recruited a throw-in coach to much derision…maybe employing same at Turf Moor could be money well spent!

There was an article in The Times a couple of days ago about throw in coaches and what a difference they were able to make. Behind a paywall, so can't post. Anyway, we have our own set piece coach so we don't need to worry about it do we?

I feel that the set piece coach is as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

Either that or he's been on his holidays since the start of this season.

Stealing a living as far as I can see - maybe we haven't done throw in
or corner taking lessons yet. Maybe next term.

I think all our full backs (Roberts, Vitinho, Taylor & Decroix) are all left handed which obviously doesn't help

Did we take a corner that actually got beyond the first man at the near post last night?

I genuinely don't remember one.

I’m struggling to recall more than 2 or 3 ALL season.
