Great stuff. Williams had him for breakfast.

Re: World Darts Championship
Littler is 3-1 up against Cross. Could change as they are both up and down but Littler pulling out the big finishes when he has needed to.
Re: World Darts Championship
Great to watch these two. Think thereโs going to be twists and turns in this game.

Re: World Darts Championship
A great match to watch, I can see Humphries beating Williams in the other semi then the final of Humphries v Cross/Littler will be a good game to watch.
Re: World Darts Championship
Once he gets going he is so consistant that he piles so much pressure on his opponent they start trying too hard.
Re: World Darts Championship
Littler is like a bloody cyborg ... bish bash bosh 5-2 up...
Can Cross repeat a 4 set comeback like his 1/4 final .............

Incredible. Similar in some ways to the 16-year old Wayne Rooney.

Cross inexplicably tried speeding his throw up. Heโs slow usually anyway and should have tried slowing Littler down to pull him out his rhythm.

Luke Humphries just won 6-0. It should be a good final.

Re: World Darts Championship
It will be a tight game but I think Humphries edges it
Re: World Darts Championship
I watched it last night for the first time for ages. I used to watch it a lot and go to a few tournaments when Phil Taylor was in his heyday. As dominant as Taylor was, he dragged others along with him and he used to at least get a decent challenge now and then.
Littler was excellent but I was underwhelmed by Rob Cross. As a former world champion I thought he was really poor - did he manage to win 2 legs in a row? Absolutely zero pressure on Littler who was taking the **** at times with his throw selection.
Looking back at world champions over the last few years they all seem like much of a muchness (MVG aside who looks like he isn't living up to his potential).
2018 - Rob Cross
2019 - Michael van Gerwen
2020 - Peter Wright
2021 - Gerwyn Price
2022 - Peter Wright
2023 - Michael Smith
Is darts just a pool of mediocrity right now or is Littler genuinely that good?

Re: World Darts Championship
Darts is incredibly good right now but we are potentially reaching a phase where one group of legends (Anderson, Wright, Barney etc) move aside for the next set of stalwarts, and that group will likely include Littler. It will definitely include Humphries, who is sheer class and I think will win the final 7-4.
Re: World Darts Championship
OK, thanks - I'll give the final a watch tonight.

Re: World Darts Championship
If Littler wins tonight it will be incredible for someone so young BUT please, get a team around him to sort out his diet and appearance. Having so much weight around the midriff at his age must put him in danger of becoming diabetic if he isn't already.
That could have a devastating affect his long term future in Darts and life in general.

Re: World Darts Championship
To be honest, I see the point.
The way darts is evolving, the players will need to be far fitter than they used to be.
Just look at the transformation of Humphries.
Good luck to the young lad tonight, but agree he will need a professional team around him get everything possible out of his talent.

Re: World Darts Championship
Darts has moved on a lot since you watched it. Whether thatโs down to the individuals themselves (thereโs loads more money in it now meaning the top 64 can do it full time - 10 or 15 years ago it was probably just the top 16 who made a living from it and all the other lads had to work normal jobs and not have the time to practice as much as the top 16).Sproggy wrote: โWed Jan 03, 2024 9:41 amI watched it last night for the first time for ages. Equipment is much better, including the boards.
As for MvG not fulfilling his potential - not sure about that. He has something like 160 titles (inc 7 Premier Leagues I think). Granted he is probably a bit disappointed he doesnโt have a couple more world titles but the guy is (as he likes to say) phenomenal!
Regarding Littler, the sky is the limit from what heโs shown this tournament. There are other lads who came through and looked like they might do a bit who everyone raved about and got to major finals (Kirk Shepherd anyone!!?) then did nothing afterwards. Some stick around a few years at the top level then fade drastically (Adrian Lewis was supposedly going to dominate darts for 20 years).
Think the guy above has a point about Littler needing to be well managed - not just financially but health wise too. I know they are seen to be drinking water on the stage but the vast majority are big, big drinkers and thatโs one of the reasons a lot look somewhat unhealthy. In a couple of years when his folks arenโt driving him to events heโll spend a lot of time with the other players when at competitionsโฆ
Re: World Darts Championship
Littler is being linked to the vacant managers job at Birmingham in various red tops.

I've NEVER watched Darts before. I'll be tuning into watch Littler tonight. I think it's great having a player who brings a new angle and attracts new viewers. He's great for the sport.

4-3 Brilliant
Re: World Darts Championship
Whether he wins tonight or not, the young lad is destined to win an absolute shed load of world titles.
Still rooting for Hunprhries, though. I just prefer his demeanour on the oche.

Yeah and itโs not good enough, now 6-4 Humphries. His average on the last four sets has been mad.
