Us ,Sheff Utd ,and Luton,we’ve thought about Everton,Bournemouth,Crystal Pal,and Nottingham Forest but none of them seem to want to join us ,any suggestions?
Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
Sorry I'm a bit lost, are you asking who we think the bottom three might be come the end of the season? So who our competitors are now realistically?

Forrest are the only ones we stand a chance of catching.
Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
I'd say anyone from Palace down (excluding Everton) we have a chance of catching/have the chance of joining us in the bottom three, we're not even half way through the season yet.

Unfortunately a team has got to have a worse 2nd half to the season than we’ve had to the first.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 9:48 pmThat’s would be a remarkable turn of events catch some of them clubs

Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
Are we capable of improving enough to bring other sides into it?
On current evidence that's a clear No

We’ll struggle to match Palace’s 18 points that they’ve got already.
Look at it this way, we need 8 wins from the 21 games we have left (we’ve won 8 of our last 45 at this level), not happening.
May as well just accept relegation now and look forward to next season. We’ll bounce back with Kompany and most of the squad we already have.

Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
Wolves were bottom last year and survived comfortably, the year before it was Newcastle.
All it takes is for a side to put a little run together, 3 or 4 wins from 6 games and suddenly it looks a whole lot different. We might not look like doing that right now but navigate these 3 tough Christmas fixtures, bring a couple of players in January and who knows?
We almost survived under Jackson when Dyche had won 1 game from the start of the season until February. It was mid Feb when we picked up our second win of the season
Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
Forest are our only hope. Lets hope they dont sign a good striker in January
Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
It will take a minor miracle for us to stay up.

We have a chance, it might go 'til the last game v Forest.

I'm trying to remain optimistic, it's still mathematically possible for any of those teams to have a shocking run
Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
I think we will finish bottom...I cannot see one position on the pitch where we have a proper Premier league player ...two or three young players with potential but it is a bit desperate at the moment

I think it's Westleigh in disguise , so yes, ignore
Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
Believe me I was being as optimistic as anyone but we are gone I’m sure now. Playing a Fulham side who are playing as good as anyone right now, ten men loss last week was a blip it seems. Then Liverpool Boxing Day! It’s hardly an Einstein prediction but I can see 0 points over Xmas with villa away having won 16 in a row at home.

Remember after about 5 games when loads of stupid fools were saying Everton had already taken one of the relegation spots?

Yep I remember at the start of the season saying Everton will be comfortable mid table and got dogs abuse from the usual crew.StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 9:47 amRemember after about 5 games when loads of stupid fools were saying Everton had already taken one of the relegation spots?

Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
I get that but Dyche's team had some fight in them the players put it all on the line, I just don't see that in this lot.KRBFC wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 10:34 pmWolves were bottom last year and survived comfortably, the year before it was Newcastle.

The style we are playing this season is also boring to watch meaning the atmosphere doesn't build because people are being drained

He also fails to mention the critical factor in them two clubs staying up was a managerial change

And some big money spent on some very good signings, I bet the gap wasn't as big either?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 12:19 pmHe also fails to mention the critical factor in them two clubs staying up was a managerial change
We've been linked for a 20 year old right back on loan from Liverpool who was playing at Bolton last season, I'm sure that'll solve our defensive issues

Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
Quite possibly as we will lose our best players. How could we afford to keep them. Any way, I said IF we go down. We may not yet.
Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
Minor miracle? I would say we need a miracle of biblical proportions to stay up.

Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
Wolves sacked Bruno Lage replacing him with Lopetegui and made some major signings in the January window one of whom was Cunha. Can’t see Kompany getting the Heave Ho nor the club spending big money next month.
Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
I know the circumstances of those two clubs just highlighting it’s not set in stone at Christmas, just need to put a good run together somewhere before the end of the season. I don’t see the club spending big either but I don’t think we’re a million miles away, 2 or 3 key additions could make a huge difference.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 7:33 pmWolves sacked Bruno Lage replacing him with Lopetegui and made some major signings in the January window one of whom was Cunha. I think this January will be a busy one in general, with the Euros coming up I can see a lot of players leaving on loan deals for game time to try and get in their national teams. We can hopefully benefit from that.

A couple of interesting stats, a premier league club has never survived relegation when being bottom of the table at Christmas and on single figure points.KRBFC wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 7:40 pmI know the circumstances of those two clubs just highlighting it’s not set in stone at Christmas, just need to put a good run together somewhere before the end of the season. Funnily enough no team has ever survived with single figure points at Christmas.
There has only been four times in premier league history when a team that is bottom at Christmas avoided relegation.
So unless we pick up a win this weekend the above stats suggest it’s pretty much already done.

Yes because previous seasons are taken into the equation when deciding the outcome of this season

No, but previous season outcomes will mean that the odds won’t be in our favour, which let’s face it, they already aren’t.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 11:03 pmYes because previous seasons are taken into the equation when deciding the outcome of this season

The stats are there, I’m not suggesting Burnley can’t be the outliers. All I am saying is in 31 seasons no other team has stayed up with less than 10 points at Christmas.

Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
I think relegation has almost been accepted already, certainly on the pitch. There wasn't a single hard tackle against Everton, which if not was a must win, it certainly was a don't get beaten.
I'm not a rumour starter for attention, I'm a 50 year old guy but I've had it on pretty good authority that if the team have a disastrous Christmas, VKs position could be looked at.

Re: Us ,Sheff Utd ,Luton
If we finish rock bottom of the PL (11/1 before a ball was kicked) behind Sheffield United and Luton then it would not surprise anybody if the position of VK was to come under close scrutiny. Difficult to claim that we are improving and moving forwards if we are trailing in the wake of the other 2 promoted clubs.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 9:37 amI think relegation has almost been accepted already, certainly on the pitch.
