Controversial but I thought she was a homer who gave them loads of soft free kicks (17-5 were the figures).

I also thought there was an inability to get around the pitch as quick as is needed at this level, meaning some things were missed due to staying too near the centre circle. The yellow card for that arm in the face she was nowhere near, didn’t see it, and the assistant gave it.

Still a great achievement, and did broadly ok despite the above, but the contrast to Taylor vs Everton was huge. Got to appoint on merit, if that was genuinely the case that’s fantastic.

Really hope she has a good game -

My only question is has she gone through the rigours of reffing in the football league and the championship? Or just been chucked in to the PL?

If she has and it’s a process then brilliant - if it’s chucked straight in then that’s a different matter.
She has refereed at Championship level as well as The Women's World Cup. She's a very competent referee.

It means you just accept everything because the man on the telly told you. You don't question anything. You're being brainwashed by a woke media agenda. An agenda that undermines our way of life. You think diversity is a wonderful thing, when really there's no diversity at all, because it wants everything to be the same. They're blurring the lines between gender in our education system. It can only be about population reduction.

I think you may need to reconsider who is being brainwashed.

The likes of me and you are too old to be brainwashed in all honesty. They don't really waste their time on us because we'll be dead in 20 years. We are more the observers now. Watching either nonchalantly and unaffected, or aware and dismayed. The real brainwashing/indoctrination starts with the kids.

I was'nt wishing her to fail. I thought she had a decent game. She will succeed and do very well, paving the way for others. That's already been decided. Mine, and everybody's opinions are irrelevant. But I still have one.
As I alluded to yesterday: There's a chronic shortage of referees. (40,000 in UEFA affiliated leagues alone according to official stats)
Since they use the same rulebook, there's absolutely nothing that prevents a female from refereeing a match in the same manner and - de facto - equally as effectively, as a male, so, if young girls want to start refereeing and continue into adulthood, then I really can't see why anyone would have a problem. It's not even as though they are taking the place of someone else
If we are to encourage girls to referee, then - just like boys, they must be allowed to progress to the very top if they are good enough.
I note that Rob Jones made another terrible decision today. Why should he stand in the way of upcoming female talent, just because he happens to be male?

Reasonable debut but a tendacy to fall too easily for Fulhams playacting at slight nudges and conning her into free kicks

They were when their number 3 got booked. She seemed pretty confident though.

It was probably made easier by the very quiet home crowd though. There have been loads of time wasting bookings this season prompted by the crowd whistling and shouting wherever we had a dead ball. Fulham fans were pretty much silent throughout (apart from their fascination with handball claims).

No major decisions to make, decent game apart from.allowing Fulham to take free kicks from where they wanted, Fulham getting most of the 50/50s....but she did have a better man bun than Jay Rod 👍

Why would women want some jobs that are traditionally male positions? We'll have male nuns next.
Maybe because a lot of the traditionally female positions are hugely underpaid and underappreciated.

You mean monks?

Should be nowhere near the men's game. I see no need for it at all. There isn't a shortage of male referees. Virtuous box ticking bull****. Its just another ploy to demasculate the game.
Is it box ticking or is it a choice to make change for the better.

I guess you'd see it as box ticking if you can't see the good that it does.

Glad to see MOTD comment that there as no reffing controversy yesterday. Well done to the ref.

She had a good game yesterday however the virtue signalling noise that surrounded it doesn’t help. She is a referee, the same as any other referee in the country and it barely even deserved a mention.

I didn’t notice the referees performance, which in my eyes is the sign of good officiating.

She had probs one of the easiest games you could have with almost zero contentious issues . Was toe curlingly embarrassing and patronising for the commentators constantly saying “ she’s got that spot on “ every 5 mins when they’re a goal kick or corner . She’s a professional referee and was perfectly fine .Nobody cares if a woman ref’s games . Suprised there’s not more women refs but the climbing the ladder through open age pub leagues through driving the length and breadth of the country as you work through the leagues is a tough , labouriius gig which by default is not really female friendly .

She did very well as I predicted

I’ve heard some say she’s been fast tracked because she’s a women.

I’m more inclined to think the FA would have to be absolutely certain she is an excellent ref because if they brought her in and she was crap can you imagine the uproar.

I think rather than being fast tracked, she’s probably had to overcome boundaries her male colleague haven’t faced

She has been fast tracked.

Howard Webb:

"They're both part of the PGMOL's development group. It's an initiative tied into the elite referee development plan, which has been in place for a couple of years now to fast-track talented officials to the pathway."

The FA has also pledged to increase diversity among officials and hopes to recruit 1,000 new referees from diverse backgrounds in the next three years.

Some people are concentrating on the 'Fast tracked' part and conveniently ignoring the 'Talented' bit. She is where she is because she has proved herself over many years. She's not some kid who has come from nowhere. She's 40 years old with loads of experience.

Good luck to her and let the misogynists squirm.
