Re: for all the premature whingers
You are boring. You do understand there are 90 individual minutes to a football match. Or should the matchday thread be scrapped and no comment made until full time?
Re: for all the premature whingers
We won because of Fulham being awful, not because we were good.
Still in the Kompany out camp

Give over. It's a Burnley messageboard.
If Burnley are rubbish, like we were first half and have been regularly this season, it's okay to say that. When Burnley are good, like we were second half, it's okay to say that.

We won because we were absolutely excellent in the second half and defensively resolute. We struggled in the first half undoubtedly but we took our chances and they didn’t. For all their possession first half (and shots) they never had anything clear cut.

Nah you can't seriously suggest that.
We won because we didn't get carved open like most games. They barely laid a glove on us second half and we never looked uncomfortable.
It was a solid, battling away performance and you should give credit where it's due.

Let’s hope the win gives the players confidence to go on a run :.. we certainly needed the win although I think Fulham will perhaps wonder how we won that game

Looks like some people haven't twigged we have a CooClaret and a CoolClaret on this thread.
In much the same way as the OP doesn't seem to have seen a League table recently, which still makes grim reading no matter how good today's result/second-half performance was.

Just like to say I’ve not once called for VK to get canned but have some serious reservations/concerns about the club overall.Enola Gay wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 5:31 pmLooks like some people haven't twigged we have a CooClaret and a CoolClaret on this thread.

Certainly don’t post to be a provocateur or a wind up merchant.

I suppose we should let Nori and his pals have their day in the sun after all you’ve had a lot of dark days ,but the idea is to be magnanimous in victory as well as in defeat, and sorry the last time I went to Deadwood was when we took the roof of the Darwin end.

If they’d scored one of their chances, pretty sure we would’ve rolled over and been the same poor team we’ve been all season.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 5:22 pmWe won because we were absolutely excellent in the second half and defensively resolute. Kompany gets lucky and we think it’s the start of a revival. I don’t see the manager learning, just rolling out the same fodder week in week out.
Big test for him come January and we can see if he can identify the weaknesses in the squad and move to bring in strength.
If he fails to bring in a dominant ball winning CM, a striker and a dominant CB then he’s no further along his ‘journey’ than he is now.
Bored of turgid.

Re: for all the premature whingers
But they looked good after the first 15 minutes. So why were they so poor in the second half? Could it be that we were better organised and upped our game? Anyway, it doesn't matter. There is no pleasing people like you, so I won't waste any more time.

Re: for all the premature whingers
They didn’t score though, so it’s irrelevant. You could just as easily say that if Amdouni scored at the start of the second half we’d have won 0-3. The score is the score and on balance I think we deserved to win today.Cooclaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 6:48 pmIf they’d scored one of their chances, pretty sure we would’ve rolled over and been the same poor team we’ve been all season.

Kompany did not ‘get lucky’ today - he made good substitutions at the right time and clearly got the team buzzing in his half time team talk.

Re: for all the premature whingers
I can't believe that some people refuse to allow themselves to enjoy today's results. Maybe they find happiness in misery because I cannot work out why some of them spend many hours on here each day pouring out their torment.
Spare a thought though. It must have been awful for them last season.

We were dead and virtually buried. but over the last month or so there's been green shoots of recovery and some lessons finally learnt.
I don't think we will get out of it, but at least we are making a fight of it.
