To be fair he’s not done much for quite a while.

That's so awful for us and so ironic.
I wouldn’t panic if we are good enough we will stay up simple as that it won’t matter on other teams results.I like to watch the football as a neutral enjoying the good goals that wood as scored today,if we spend a full season watching every game with anxiety hoping teams get beat it’s not good. We are not even half way through. Regarding wood I think that Peter drury is a bit of a buffoon Astonished that wood as scored two good goals with his feet. He’s always had good feet for a big lad,pig ignorant if you ask me.

Total disaster for us this. Forest are in the middle of some really hard fixtures. Realistically they are the side we could catch. Suspect I’ll set off to the Turf early and get an extra pint in, may need it.

One thing I've noticed under Nuno is Forrest running right down the middle with pace. Doing it all day to Newcastle to look scared sh*tless.

We only seem to have Beyer and Burge make those runs, and generally Beyer gets caught out.

Recall Forest being 1-3 up at St James' in the F A Cup in 1974. They found a way of turning it around though. 🤔

Substance over style.... as his stats, and goal returns testify when played regularly. Good strength and pace, so can hold the ball up and stretch in behind, very good finisher, defensive asset....

Strikers who regularly score double figures in a premier league season are very rare... Wood was one of them.

With Liverpool, Man City & Villa their next three league fixtures Howe is pretty much a dead man walking unless he gets a few good results.

‘Awful footballers’ simply do not score 49 goals in 144 PL appearances - especially for Burnley.

Just reminding myself that on Saturday morning I feared being 9 points behind Forest by tonight. Possibly 12 with the Toon’s form.

The worst we will be is 6 behind. That’s still a bonus.

I’ve been out till now and just seen the score

Know Newcastle have been on a poor run, but was not expecting that at all and especially not what was in effect a 15min hat trick from Wood

Forest played very well, fair play. Newcastle were shocking. Howe in serious trouble (as are we - which we knew anyway, but it’s the hope that kills you).

Wood was poor in his final spell with us, but he was a v good player for us overall.

The whole team was set up to accommodate him. A lot of games we may as well have been playing with 10 men. He scored 3 today, which will be a boost to his goals to games ratio but I’ll guarantee he will go missing for the next 5 games and that was the issue. So the 49 in 144 doesn’t tell the full story.

Newcastle didnt have anywhere near a big enough swusd to compete in the PL and the cups at the same time. Think Howe will get a while longer to get them back on track, hes done a great job there.

Absolutely dreadful result for us though, we really are in trouble if Forest find form, i dont really see any other way of getting out of it if they show an upturn. Massive blow, no way of dressing it up

He’s probably scored the most goals outside of the Salah/Son/Kane etc elite players during the last decade

What’s the hardest thing to do in football?

Absolute myth that ‘the team was set up to accommodate him’

The team was set up to be hard to beat and our strikers had to be clinical, physical and make the most out of the fewer chances that we had a game.

Very often Wood would be running the channel, or battling two centre halves with little support in and around him - a role that Jeff Hendrick did extremely well.

I don’t think people realise how hard it is to sprint full pelt against PL calibre defenders to an out ball, control it and hold it up to play others into a game.

He was absolutely pivotal to our success

How many first team players do they have out injured? Pope. Barnes maybe? Howe has been quite clever at playing this decimated by injuries narrative, but that looked a pretty strong team today (or should I say squad - it was his decision to drop Wilson, Joelinton and Livramento).

I'm convinced by the allegation that Wood knew Newcastle were coming in for him hence his drop in form to assist his new employer, his leaving ultimately relegated us.

Not a good result for Burnley whatsoever. But at this stage of the season, I don't think we should be so heavily reliant on other teams results. If you didn't know it, you could think it's April. But it's not the new year yet and we find ourselves desperate for Forest to do us a favour every week.

Chris wood will score goals if you give him every penalty kick, swing every corner into him and play to his limited style by kicking the ball into the box towards him at every opportunity. Nobody else will score in the team mind, just Wood.

Chris Wood's a great player. By far the best striker we've had in the Prem in this modern era. There aren't many strikers who can maintain their form when the entire team behind them gets loads worse and other than the jarring comment about his comfort zone it's really not too reasonable to criticise anything he did for us.

Do agree with people saying it's pointless worrying about results elsewhere. The number of points we need to survive will be what it will be and we'll either do it or we won't. Our fate won't be decided by another team getting a surprise result.

So like any decent goal scorer?

Guessing people weren't saying 'limited style' about United when it was Yorke and Cole that scored all their goals

Some 'limited style' when finished 7th and 10th with Wood leading the line, heck, Barnes had a season of 12 goal and a few around 10 in a partnership with Chris Wood.

Seems like you're just incredibly blinkered here because it's a big plus to Dyche and Wood that aren't 'sexy footballers'
