We need a big hold up play battler upfront who scores .Also a midfielder who wins tackles ,creates opportunities and drives forward
Absolutely.

Ask anyone from Brunshaw to Beijing of a Burnley persuasion in the summer and they'd all have said a big hold up play battler upfront and a midfielder who wins tackles.

Two glaringly obvious positions to improve as soon as it was clear we were going to be promoted.

I mean I thought Traff played well today but -

27/33 completed passes for Alisson (82%)

13/38 for Trafford (34%)

Alisson had some lovely pings to get them on the front foot - with a few being picked off.
Doesn’t help when we’ve only really Foster in our team attacking wise who can contest a header from Trafford’s long punts.

Liverpool were winning everything from Allison’s kicks.

Not sure it was booing Burnley off, more the Liverpool players and their celebrations
Win or lose, never any humility from Klopp & Co.

Wasn't at Turf today and didn't see this on TV - what happened? Don't disbelieve you btw, just surprised!
I watched on Prime and he appeared to have a hissy fit when Kompany told him to put his jacket back on when he was ready to come on because we were having a good spell. Commentators also noticed it and came to the same conclusion. Understand him bring emotional but these senior players have such an important role in a squad as young as this and that kind of thing needs to be clmped down on straight away

Two wasteful headers that should have led to goals but another good game from improving Dara and another stella game from Traff.
Said it at the time, passing on Townsend was a mistake. So far has brought Premier League experience, passion, and some important goals & chances to Luton.

I mean - O’Shea and Beyer both won more in the air than they lost.

A lot has to do with speed of delivery and angle of trajectory as well -

He just doesn’t have that in his locker.

Look at how Trent and Alisson pass a long ball and look at Trafford.

This isn’t a knock on Traff - he clearly has very good reactions and is good at getting down/across to shots BUT this being like a ‘QB’ and a distributor from the back he doesn’t have it in him to do effectively at this level right now, which is on VK.

Maybe Redmond could bring that but we’ve declined the opportunity to give him many minutes so far.

We'll try to pretend Allison didn't hammer a few straight into touch.

Didn’t hear that in the longside at all.

I stay every week to clap them off, however dire the performance, and sometimes I’m the only one left. Today it was packed and solid applause all round.
Amazon commentary got it wrong then. Just repeating what they said

I initally thought they were saying this but they suggested it was the liverpool players they were booing at the end of it. Think it was just badly worded

We’ve needed this type of player for about 20 years though

Perhaps you should have mentioned that in your original post then.

Why accuse Burnley fans of booing the team off the pitch and then backtrack when you are pulled up on it?

No booing at our players and I stayed until they were down the tunnel. In fact it was a hearty applause at the end from all sides, recognising a great performance just missing that clinical finish.

There was some guff on the media about this game, I’ve already read all sorts, Amazon saying we booed our players, the BBC live text having a biased Liverpool fan implying it was one way traffic. It was all nonsense, the kind you read when a “big club” comes to town with all the claptrap they bring.

We had a bloody good go and that's all I wanted to see. Didn't pan out against a very good side, but no doubt about it we could have had a few goals there. Well played lads and gives us some heart going to Villa.

2nd half we played well against the top of the league tbh, vk building a really decent team & I can't wait to see this team grow next season in the championship when we take it by storm! :D

Ah no, I know what it was now. Klopp did that whole 3 cheers thing to their crowd and then Burnley fans booed him off as he walked down the tunnel. Nothing to do with Burnley players.

The defeat was disappointing but it was against a team that could well win the PL. I think we had two of the best chances and disappointed particularly with JBG that he could not even get his header on goal, Berge not a lot better. Trafford was outstanding and is now getting noticed by the media in the best league in the world. He could set a record for the most saves in the PL this season. At the start of the season we would have lost 5 or 6 nil

Was a good effort against a good side, annoyingly it was the sort of game we’d have ragged a few years ago.
****** off as usual but not through lack of effort so I’ll take that

I thought we played very well, with some exciting forward play.
So did most of the neutrals, and a few Scouse fans, down the pub.
We are continuing to improve.
