Everton want Josh on loan
Personally I think this would be the worst piece of business since we loaned Super Glen to Reading.
Josh is vital to our team and should not be going anywhere.

He won't be available on loan
Watch him for the disallowed Nunez goal yesterday. Stood watching his runner.
Isn't Prem quality in my opinion.

Re: Josh Brownhill
Where’s this from?
There’s no way on earth we’re going to let our captain go to Everton on loan in Jan
Everton may need loans and will likely find some good ones, but it won’t be our Josh. And seriously doubt they’ll be buying unless their takeover goes through and they’ve got a war chest to spend - they must have some cash to keep funding £20m a month running costs.

Re: Josh Brownhill
He went to Reading first, April to May. Bolton, September to October.
Re: Josh Brownhill
Any decent bid we should be looking to move him on and bring in a better player. Isn’t up to the premier league, his ball retention is no where near good enough.

A lot he does goes unnoticed. Broke up a lot of play yesterday and his energy is excellent. You can see the difference in our team when we swapped him out for Cullen. He does so much donkey work, but I do agree his passing lets him down and please keep him off set pieces!

Re: Josh Brownhill
Part of a midfield that wasn't Premier League standard and contributed significantly to our relegation in 2022. No pace, little creativity, not physical enough against the more mobile and athletic midfielders and his set pieces are nothing short of appalling. Significant upgrade required, the sooner the better.

Like David Jones, Jeff Hendrick, Dean Marney, Scott Arfield before him. All undervalued for great chunks of their careers with us.
Edit: spelling alteration.

Glen could control the ball like glue on both feet and go past players with ease, no comparison to Brownhills lack of ball control and general play where he runs around and hides half the game.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 9:31 amEverton want Josh on loan

Re: Josh Brownhill
We've just beaten Fulham away against a very decent midfield 5 with a midfield 4 including Bruun Larsen who had a 'mare and Odobert who is learning his trade. Someone must have been doing something in midfield.
last season we won the Championship with over 100 points and Josh was head and shoulders above most in that division.
We have improved dramatically since Brownhill has come back into the team and he and Berge have developed a bit of a partnership.
I just don't get some of the comments on here it seems to be completely unconstrained by reality.

I think for some there's a distinct lack of reality on what makes a premier league player and what they are really talking about is a top 6 player and if you're not Vieira reincarnated you're not good enough for the Premier League.
You only need to look at some of the comments on Dwight McNeil, who despite having played 150 times plus in the premier league some think would struggle to get into a championship team, to realise that some people have no idea what makes a successful player.

Re: Josh Brownhill
Brownhill would be fine as first or second reserve in a Premier League squad but if truth be told, any side with Josh Brownhill playing the majority of games is likely to be down at the bottom end.
His work off the ball is good but his work on it isn’t good.
I’m of the view that our team would be transformed by one transfer - a proper central midfielder to come in at the expense of Brownhill.

Re: Josh Brownhill
Your passing has to be spot on in the Premier league and make it easy for the receiver.
Josh has recently started playing a lot of chipped passes which put players under so much pressure.
He would be fine next to two very good passers of the ball.
Wolves would be perfect for him with all their technical players.

I'm not convinced Josh will ever be top level quality on the ball but he is our heartbeat and has a huge connection with the club and the fans, no way we let him go on loan to Everton unless it's with a guaranteed SILLY fee at the end of it.

Still is our joint top goal scorer for the season - and always chips in with goals.
I’d say a key player last year to… extremely under appreciated on here is JB.

Re: Josh Brownhill
Because he'd be cheap and would just be a back up at Everton. Third, fourth, fifth choice. Whereas at Burnley, even after the biggest recruitment window in the club's history, Brownhill is still one of the first names on team sheet despite having very obvious flaws which are taken advantage off by other teams week after week after week.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 1:48 pmIf he's so shite as some allege why does Sean want him is this to fit in with his cm players?

Re: Josh Brownhill
Its probably a planted story to drum up any interest for him as VK will have realised he hasn't made the grade and needs to free money up somewhere after his massive spend elsewhere. I agree with the above post (MDWat) we are really struggling in midfield and need someone that can do long passes to Berge who should be playing further forward, as it is Berge's covering for two players worth of work in an offensive sense. Thats why he looks absolutely knackered most games.Pickles wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 3:04 pmBecause he'd be cheap and would just be a back up at Everton. Third, fourth, fifth choice. Yep agreed. I find it bonkers that he's pretty much been our main centre midfield player this season. Seems a top lad and not a bad player at all but even last season it was clear he wasn't up to how Kompany wants to play - he was shuffled further up where his good pressing was more important than his bad passing.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 3:08 pmIts probably a planted story to drum up any interest for him as VK will have realised he hasn't made the grade and needs to free money up somewhere after his massive spend elsewhere. We are still crying out for at least one, ideally two, central box-to-box midfielders who are big, strong and can put a tackle in. It was missing from Dyche's Burnley sides too.
We've needed it for about twenty years.
As I've said, a good offer for Brownhill and he should go. He'd be daft from a personal aspect not to. Same commute, big wages, a style he's more suited to and more likely to be a Premier League player next season.
Re: Josh Brownhill
To loan any of our players to another struggling side in the PL wouldn't just be bad for business it would be hammering the nails into our relegation box.

Any reserve midfielder from City and Liverpool would be an upgrade and judging from Kompany sweet talking Klopp after the match yesterday hopefully he is well on the way to getting one

Re: Josh Brownhill
He's not a midfield playmaker obviously - but he works his socks off, breaks up play, covers ground, keeps it moving. Most midfields have players like that to compliment the 'ball players' - which in our case is Berge.
He's under-rated and under-appreciated by some IMO. With the options we have in this squad he is a regular starter for good reason.

Re: Josh Brownhill
Problem is, in this league, that type of player is typically a physical beast too. Players like Lemina, Joao Gomes, Edson Alvarez and Palhinha. While players of his size are typically excellent technically, likes of Ward-Prowse. For me he’s a bit in between the two.forzagranata wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 4:23 pmHe's not a midfield playmaker obviously - but he works his socks off, breaks up play, covers ground, keeps it moving. He plays for us and gives 100% every game plus more.
Of course that means nothing as he isn't deemed good enough for the Premier League by the Oracles of UTC despite being linked with other far better Premier League Clubs during his time here

He’s been getting linked to clubs for years? Have we even had a single offer? No we haven’t.
He’s just one of them players that sits in the cusp (similar to Pukki) of too good for the championship but not good enough for the prem.
If you have a team of really high quality technical players you could probably carry Brownhill at this level as he is a bit of workhorse but unfortunately he just doesn’t have ability to be a regular starter in a decent premier league side.

We are a much better team when JB plays. That’s been proven time and time again this season and last too.
He’s also one of our senior players now and his experience and leadership is key in this young side.
Would be a big loss for us if he went and and personally I think it would be nigh on impossible to pick up a player with his attributes for anywhere near the £7m or £8m we paid for him.

I think it’s fair to say his attributes likely suit a Dyche team over a Kompany team, but he could be a vital cog in helping us transition between the two at this level and critical in helping us get back up, especially if we lose Berge (which I think we will).

All of our players will have some gaps in their game. If they didn't they'd be playing for Man City not us. Doesn't mean they can't do a job for us.
Good enough for Wolves and Everton to be interested, but barely good enough for us in the championship. Make it make sense.
