Get Eric Dyer
Spurs saying they will let Eric Dyer go in January, we are desperate for one or two quality and proven prem league players to help the youngsters out second half of the season and he would fit perfectly into a position crying out for some maturity.
Luton have a couple leading the way and it's working for them at the moment.
Steady the ship and allow the team to flourish.

Exactly the type we need but read Roma and Fenerbahce are after him. Think he’d be out of our reach.

I'd like us to sign him.

Is he young enough to be sold on for a profit though ?

We are more likely to sign Danny Dyer.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
This would be brilliant. Agree it seems unlikely but with the Euro coming up it would probably do the lad well to play in England. I know he occasionally gives Tomori a run out but Southgate hasn't really given a fair shake to him or to Smalling for impressing overseas.
(Please don't mention Bellingham, Kane or Henderson which are obviously different)

Re: Get Eric Dyer
If we’re talking for CB I’m not keen, thought he was literally his namesake when playing there for spurs and my Spurs supporting mates haven’t a good word to say about him. CDM I could understand but not sure he’s a Kompany-type player in midfield?
Probably moot points anyway because he won’t be coming here if Roma want him.

He'd be a fantastic signing for us but I'd be amazed if he came here.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
Our only hope is if he wants to be in the PL shop window, if he does could see someone like Luton stepping in to have a replacement for Lockyer. Think he would stand out for either club

Malang Sarr at Chelsea mightt be worth a look on loan.
Left footed centre half.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
His name was mentioned in the summer and I think it was said he's in the last year of his contract. A loan for the second half of the season and a free transfer in the summer may suit him.NewClaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 11:37 amIf we’re talking for CB I’m not keen, thought he was literally his namesake when playing there for spurs and my Spurs supporting mates haven’t a good word to say about him. When we got linked with Dier and Evans in the summer, a lot on this site turned their nose up, 2 players who would of been a massive difference, we tried to get Milner to again would of been massive.
Look at the impact Barkley and Townsend are having on Luton

Re: Get Eric Dyer
Would be an incredible signing but given that he (or Spurs) turned us down in September I can’t see him coming now.
The key is the guarantee of playing time, I suspect he wouldn’t get that here, but I would give him it. Not sure if he likes defence or midfield but I would be tempted by either (may allow Beyer to move to full back where he played for Germany U21s and where we need more physicality and defensive nous.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
Yes I’d like Dier. I’d also go for Ayling at Leeds, he may be 32 years old but he’s still a lot of energy and experience in him.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
The only way any more senior/experienced player is coming here on loan in Jan is if they have an absolute guarantee of first team football - which I can’
The good news is that it is the Euros in the Summer and there will be fringe/squad players that would like to remind their national team managers that they can do a bit.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
I heard that Dyer was one of the senior pro’s we were looking to bring in the summer, and was close at one point. Hopefully it can be revived, but the interest he is now attracting may put a spanner in the works.
Re: Get Eric Dyer
I wasn't keen at all on the idea back in the summer but sadly we are strawclutching.
Whilst certain players might start to come to the terms with the PL as Berge and Odobert have shown, time is now very short in supply.
If Mourinho wants him, he'll go to Roma. Given his background - he spent a large part of his childhood in Portugal - he would adapt in a new country quickly.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
Thats a pretty smart suggestion. We desperately need a right back. One with premier league experience would be perfect.
I doubt our current model would facilitate this signing however.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
It's a bit difficult to understand people still thinking a player of DIer's calibre wouldn't be a massive upgrade for us. To have seen us this season and not noticed the gulf between an established top 6 player/England international and our players is astonishing, regardless of if you're a negative Nelly or a positive Pamela.

Exactly the type of player to inject experience and steel into the side. Not sure we would be near the top of his picks unfortunately.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
Folk are mad if they don’t think Dier instantly improves us.
Kompany could utilised his more preferred 4-1-4-1 shape with him sitting in DM or even at centre half in this 4-4-2 would be better than anything we have in the side right now.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
Dyer to Burnley? I don’t think so far too slow even when he was at his peak for me.
Re: Get Eric Dyer
That may be so but on this thread we are talking about experienced pros actually playing in the team and improving it. We've got J Rod, Redmond and perhaps Vigouroux for off field duties.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 4:05 pmIf you get chance go watch lallanas interview on Talksport today.

Re: Get Eric Dyer
More than that though -
A Milner type for example set standards from players that have played at the very top for a prolonged period.
Jay and Redmond have undoubtedly had good careers in the PL in football and Vigouroux will have a lot of knowledge etc on life as a footballer that's dotted about a few times but it's a way off a Evans/Dier type

This isn’t happening, for more reasons than footballing ones.
Anyone failing to see what those are, really should get on the turf more…(see what I did there?)

No one with an experience would come to Burnley where they will have to work hard, especially when there is a chance to go to warmer climates like Greece and turkey and play against pub teams!
Re: Get Eric Dyer
Just seen Yann M'vila saying hes interested in going back to Sunderland. Available on a free, central midfielder, would be a good signing for someone if fully fit. Big, strong, technically excellent and very experienced...

Re: Get Eric Dyer
Connor Coady was available at the start of the season for about £4m. I know a few on here will say hes rubbish, but I have actually been to Leicester when he has played twice. Great talker, organiser and a great passer having started his career in midfield. He would be great alongside Beyer, and or O Shea.
I have watched most Burnley games this year, the majority admittedly on SKY, but no one in our back four appears to be talking or barking out instructions. The nearest it has got is O Shea trying to bring our defensive line, up,

That’s been the problem all season, we don’t have a leader on the pitch. For me it needs to be a CB who likes to dish out a few rollockings along the way.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 4:20 pmConnor Coady was available at the start of the season for about £4m.
