New Year Resolution

Post by beddie » Mon Jan 01, 2024 8:44 am

Well what’s yours fellow Clarets. Are you like me full of enthusiasm to start with but never see it through. Anyway mine is to try and be a little more relaxed about things, according to er-indoors since I retired I've become very grumpy. Like many others at this time of year I want to lose a bit of weight. I’m due for a knee replacement in about 9 days, unfortunately the Christmas eating has taken its toll on the waist line so from today I’m giving it a final 9 day push. I’d be interested to hear what if any you’ve come up with. Happy New Year to you all.

I think mine should be 'learn to love rainy days'.

I had both my knees replaced in 2021 - best thing I ever did (it was tough but stick at the physio and do as much as you can) - hope it all goes well for you.

Thank you HB. Yes I’m determined to do what’s required from the Physio. I’m hoping if I work hard at it I can get back sooner rather than later to the Turf. Disappointed I’ll miss the Luton game and probably Fulham, hope I can get back for Arsenal though, I don’t want to miss us beating them. :)

Just perspective, I think. As well as all the usual treating people how you'd want to be treated etc. Important sometimes to remember that life doesn't have the same checkpoints and finish lines for everyone. And what we may think is bad or annoying about our lives may well possibly be exactly what someone else is striving for in theirs.

Drink less, train more, work harder.

Tbf if you conquer the first the other two become a lot easier

Dry January to start with, hopefully extending it into the summer months. I don't drink alcohol a lot so i thought i'd just stop and see if i miss it.

Continue my resolve to support small business / avoid monopolies when possible.

From web browser / email choice all the way to clothing purchases.

Convenience is great but do we really want a world of Amazon deliveries and pop up naff Starbucks industrial estates everywhere?

The sort of area stretching around trafalgar/rosegrove/burnley college looks like something you’d find in America now - countless fast food options, crappy pop up strip malls etc

I quit drinking 6 years ago .. I still go out socialising but need to go home early as I can’t stand the drunken drivel which as the night goes on .. intensifies till my ears start bleeding .. about midnight is a good time

- Return to my wedding weight from 2018
- Be less angry/frustrated about things that have absolutely no bearing on me or my life
- Get a tattoo (I have threatened this for years, it is time)
