South Africa v India

Post by Ashingtonclaret46 » Wed Jan 03, 2024 7:20 pm

Did anyone see the bizarre day of cricket today at Newlands, Cape Town, South Africa
South Africa won the toss and decided to bat on what the commentators said was a 'greenish' pitch.
They were bowled out in 23.2 overs for a total of 55.
India batted and were 153 for 4 in 33 overs, they then lost 6 wickets for 0 runs in 11 balls after tea. This is the first time in Test Cricket that a team has lsot 6 wickets for 0 runs.
South Africa batted again and went from 37 for 0 to 45 for 3 in 5 overs before finishing the day on 62 for 3. Twenty batters caught out in the day.

A day which saw just 270 runs scored and 23 wickets fall. Tomorrow will never match that!

I watched the 6 wicket burst.

There's a bit in it for the bowlers and always a bit of bounce there, but there was plenty of giving their wickets away.

Just seen the commentary as Indian lost 6 wickets for 0 ,commentator says ,if someone had gone for a dump when 4 wickets down they wouldn’t have believed it,or words to that effect.

India lose 6 wickets for no runs and South Africa lead by 5 runs with only 4 wickets left of their 2nd innings, well done South Africa making them bat again :D

India went at 4.39 per over, SA going at 5.12.

Doesn’t scream caution on a dodgy pitch.

Perhaps they are in a rush to prepare for their T20 comps?

SA all out for 176. Markram scored 106, three other batters (just about) managed double figures.

India need 79 to win.

Utterly bonkers match. Whatever happens, they'll have 3.5 days off. Nicely played.

After this performance, I wouldn't be surprised to see South Africa change their whole team for their next Test match.
