Luton v Bolton (FA Cup, 2pm)

Post by jdrobbo » Sun Jan 07, 2024 10:35 am

Perhaps a game to keep an eye on…

Luton have requested that Issa Kaboré (on loan from Man City and having an excellent season) remains at the club, until after today’s game, before joining up with Burkina Faso at AFCON.

With Burnley and Luton scheduled to play one week on Monday, a draw in this game will have implications for our fixture against the Hatters.

A draw will mean our game v Luton will be moved to the Friday night, won't it?

Just heard Bolton CEO Neil Hart interviewed on Radio 5, he was formerly at Burnley in the same position (?). Came over very well and sounds like he has done a very good job at Bolton.

Any result except a draw will be fine. Especially if Foster is touch and go

We should have signed Townsend. He’s doing well at Luton. Instead we have Redmond and Tresor.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I can't recall too many saying that at the time.

Don't see any reason to think Townsend would have been given more of a chance than Redmond has

I thought that Townsend featured more pre season and looked good.

Yeah.
Had a look through. Shrews -Wreham in Welsh is the alternative. I'll make do with City / Hudders.

Watching the Luton game - they are on a different level to us when it comes to free kicks and corners

Luton totally dominated everything in the air but Bolton defended really well - finished 0-0

A disgrace really that a vital PL game is brought forward by 72 hours at only 5 days notice to accommodate a cup replay. Having said that we have a full week recovery time unlike them

I’ll tell you what’s a shower of shite. The total disdain footballing authorities have for spectators. Having changed the date of the fixture once, it’s now going to get changed again, and with less than a weeks notice by the looks of things. How the food are people meant to organise watching their team using tickets they have paid hard earned money to buy when this happens.

I never thought I’d say this, but I feel for the Luton fans in all this, firstly thinking about planning a Monday night game and taking time off work etc, and now having to change it all to go on a Friday night. It stinks!

If by being able to head a few high balls out can only be achieved by being humiliated in various courts, become insolvent, flog everything you ever owned to keep trading, give a percentage of sales to a trust for the previous owners family to stop them foreclosing, naming your ground after anything and anyone and play in a rented stadium miles from your hometown then I'll glady struggle for a bit longer whilst we learn to defend as a unit in the richest league in the world.
