Maybe Better for Luton fans. They knew it might be moved, Friday night arguably easier than Monday with probably the majority not having work the day after. I feel for the fans who have had to reschedule and for those who now cannot make the Friday.
I hope Foster is going to be fit -Monday would have given him 3 extra days to recover from his injury at Spurs

So why wasn’t it moved to Friday in the first place? A date that suited all scenarios?

Yiu've obviously not tried driving north on the M1 & M6 if you think that. Adds at least an hour, more often close to 2 hours, to a journey from Solihull to Burnley so would expect at least a 5 hour drive north from Luton. Going back it will just be a 3 to 31/2 hour driveGranny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 5:42 pmMaybe Better for Luton fans. You do have to wonder how they can’t come up with that when they initially selected it for tv.

Southbound, and earlier in the day. I would be leaving Solihull at 4 on a Monday for a 7.45 kick-off and expect to have time for a brew and sarnie/chips before the game! Friday I would leave before 3 for the same experience

I do the trip a lot, Friday’s take at least an hour and a half longer than every other day going north and the only reasons I can attribute to that are people driving home from a week in the big smoke or getting away for a weekend.
Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
What about fans who'd booked days off and/or transport?
Senseless. Always the same people who come last and pay.

Well I booked my week away around this game so now I can’t go. I’ve put my ticket on the exchange but I doubt it’ll go now.
Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
One of the main reasons for getting rid of season ticket was KO times / days.
Sat 1230 were a pain as was anything on a Sunday.
Broadcasters aren’t bothered about fans as they know if one fan cancels someone else will take their place.
In all honesty I don’t miss it, watching with my mate on TV with a few cans.

Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
The Burnley fixtures just automatically populate in my calendar. Obviously I know that there is a risk that a Saturday 3pm fixture 3 months away may change for tv but it didn’t even cross my mind that a Monday night game, ie already selected for tv coverage, would be moved…forward…with 4 day’s notice.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 7:13 pmIt’s a wonder how these people knew it was meant to be on the Monday in the first place
And obviously, I’m not blaming the communication etc, just the rationale of putting it on a Monday in the first place with such a good chance it would be moved at such short notice.
Surprised you can’t see the problems this may cause some fans.

Tbf i knew there was a chance it could get moved, but only because of this message board. I imagine there's plenty of people who didn't have a clue. I'm not sure the club put anything official out?

Would we not be more likely to have Friday night games in the Championship than the EPL? Friday night seems to be one of the prime Championship TV slots. It's one of the main reasons i'm doubtful about renewing my Season Ticket

Selfishly, as I do not live local it is infinitely preferable for the midweek games to not have work the following day - however I fully agree/understand and sympathise about how ridiculous it is to shift the date on this so close to the game. It’s pathetic and no doubt will ruin the plans made by many.
Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
It’s a sh!tter for me also. Was shuffling my work around to get up Monday night. No chance I can make it Friday. Hopefully someone will make use of my ticket.
Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
Great. I swapped my shift to accommodate the Monday night game. Too late to swap back now.

Saturday 18 May: Bournemouth v Luton Town
Sunday 19 May: Luton Town v Fulham
I cannot see this happening

I don’t understand. For an FA Cup replay the police insist on 10 days notice. How can they move a league game with 5 days notice.

Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
I don't deny that, but your comment that everyone who bought a ticket knew it could be moved from the Monday to the Friday is wrong, not only for season ticket holders, but for those who bought tickets at the start of the season, it's only really relevant to those who bought tickets after the possible scenario was reported in october
Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
No it isnt, it is relevant to anybody who's bought a ticket, anybody who has bought a home ticket up until the end of the season is well aware that those games could be moved.Nori1958 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 7:53 amI don't deny that, but your comment that everyone who bought a ticket knew it could be moved from the Monday to the Friday is wrong, not only for season ticket holders, but for those who bought tickets at the start of the season, it's only really relevant to those who bought tickets after the possible scenario was reported in october
Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
Yes, we all know that, but as already pointed out to you, this discussion isn't about the changing of games in general, it's this specific movement from Monday to Friday, which you stated that everyone knew it was possible when buying tickets, and you also went as far as mentioning the communication about this specific move of dates.
I don't intend to discuss it further with you,as it will spoil an important thread

It's wrong - it won't be played on that date no matter what happens and there is no new date for the game yet as per the Premier League.
Re: ARTICLE: Luton game moves to this Friday
Anybody who bought tickets when they was first released knew the game could be moved, when the TV fixtures were announced it was made clear the game could be moved.Nori1958 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 8:45 amYes, we all know that, but as already pointed out to you, this discussion isn't about the changing of games in general, it's this specific movement from Monday to Friday, which you stated that everyone knew it was possible when buying tickets, and you also went as far as mentioning the communication about this specific move of dates.

I was oblivious that this scenario existed until last week. Have an operation planned next week, which if goes ahead meant I couldn’t go on the Monday and will lie me low for a couple of months with my next planned match attendance being Brentford in March.
Friday now means I can go, great news for me , not for my mate who has borrowed my season ticket.

Of course we know the scenarios but how on earth are people supposed to make travel arrangements if they don’t have a confirmed date until five days before?
You are completely missing the point of the argument.
