Patrick Bamford ?

Post by Woodleyclaret » Mon Jan 08, 2024 8:49 am

Got abuse from Sean and rarely featured but several Leeds manager seem to discover the talent that's in him
Imo he could do a job up top supporting Lyle or Zeki

Injury prone, questionable attitude, past his best, now in his 30s, only a 1 in 3 in the Championship and only 1 good season in the PL.

Players of the calibre we need are hard to find.

Do you just see someone on the news score a goal and then post saying he could do a job ?

He has scored 2 goals this season and 6 last season.

What we really need is a lightweight forward who is wasteful in front of goal.

Even Leeds fans want rid, great goal but I'd not be happy if we signed him

So, he's not PL quality and didn't get abuse from our former manager?

Great post otherwise.

He’s scored 24 goals in 102 Premier League appearances which includes his sub appearances but 17 of those goals came in one season.

He's been crap for Leeds, scores 1 worldy, and suddenly people forget the dross.
I'm sure there will be you tube clips of Sunday league players scoring worldies, maybe we should sign them 😉

“He’s not PL quality” I’m not sure that’s the basis for a good argument it’s probably more valid to argue he’d be well at home.

Chelsea soon realised he not quite good enough for the premier league …he certainly isn’t what we are looking for at his age …

He scored a good goal last season from a header off a corner against palace i think they ended up losing 1-5 so it isn’t just 1 good goal he can score a few WHEN he’s fit the when is the problem as more often than not he’s injured & age has definitely caught up with him. I’d back him above JR to make more of a impact.

Yes and wasn’t that the behind closed doors season? Somewhat easier with less pressure.
Having said that I don’t think Dyche gave him enough time on the pitch.

Milner is the player who’d have made a big difference to the Clarets this season

It was the behind closed doors season.

I’m sure he was signed as cover, as he’d been at Palace & Norwich in the previous season without getting game time.
We had Sam Vokes, Andre Gray and Ashley Barnes that season so I’m not sure how he could have got much more game time.

I spoke to some Leeds fans back in 2019. They didn’t rate him then but reckoned they’d have already been in the Premier League had they kept Chris Wood.

I know we were briefly linked with Milner until Brighton showed an interest.
I think Ross Barkley is one who we should have looked at and would have realistically been able to sign. Definitely one that got away in my opinion.

Don't worry about it, people not cottoning onto basic things appears to the general theme the order of the day so no oddities at all.

Same here Tony,he's been absolutely awful for Leeds last couple or seasons and gets a decent goal and suddenly he becomes a great forward.
Wouldn't want anywhere near our squad.

Bamford isn’t the answer to our problems but I’m certain he’d have more of an impact than Jay Rodriguez.

I'm having a look at the stats & it's difficult to compare - apart from the fact both are playing in a separate division & 1s usually injured & the other doesn't get selected. You could effectively toss a coin & see which side it lands on & you have who's better of the 2.

It's not common for a player to have a run in with Dyche and come out good. He was doing well for a bit and I thought he was old that got away but has lost his way quickly.

It could potentially I guess that could mean for certain that something will definitely happen & in way does potentially mean that it could develop in the future & something isn't certain. It's great when you can just skip what the words actually mean & decide for yourself the meaning.

We need a JCB to prize open these Prem defences. Perhaps he could put in a word.
