I have followed Harry’s farm for several years.
He says in 3 years time, 50% of British farmland used for growing will no longer be growing food.
The video gives info and reasons.

People keep avoiding the subject, but whoever controls the food, Haa the power.
Dutch and French farmers have protested for years.

Under the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU, farmers had to set aside some of their land and not grow crops on it in order to receive wheat and barley subsidies. Today farmers are paid subsidies to produce environment, habitats for wildlife and birds, flood control, biodiversity etc.

Over farming is a global problem that has led to a large decline in wildlife, forests and has contributed to some extent, to global warming. In the UK, the biggest impact has been the intensification of agrculture, coupled with above average human population growth, with the UK and in particular, England, being one of the most densely populated countries in Europe, with one of the lowest proportions of natural wildlife and habitat. These are all facts. I'm not an environmentalist by any means either, but while one hand it would be good to support the UK farming and agricultural economy more, on the other side of this, farmland covers 70% of the UK and can have a negative impact on our environment combined with urban population growth.

An interesting watch , takeaway I got was that growing a lot of crops was uneconomic for a variety of reasons , poor weather poor yields and prices and he is losing money 50% of the time (albeit still driving the inevitable Range Rover) so is more than happy to sign up to the government’s environmental policy to put more wildlife/climate friendly uses in. Leaves us more reliant on imports which post Ukraine war isn’t ideal but the government will have to do a 180 turn and start subsidising loss making crops again if these farmers are to swap back to using all the land , part of the problem for the farmers and us customers is the constant chopping and changing

The Range Rover is a 2007 (I think) L322, clarkson has one as well. To Range Rover geeks, the best ever made.Roger1960 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 8:45 pmAn interesting watch , takeaway I got was that growing a lot of crops was uneconomic for a variety of reasons , poor weather poor yields and prices and he is losing money 50% of the time (albeit still driving the inevitable Range Rover) so is more than happy to sign up to the government’s environmental policy to put more wildlife/climate friendly uses in. Harry does have a car channel, he has some very exotic cars, also does tests of new cars. Including EV’s.
He did a 2023 round up recently which included some EV stats.
Most EV’s do 3 to 3.5 miles to the KW, the new Lotus he tested did 1.5 miles to the KW.
Most interestingly a couple of British dudes invented a new drive which Mercedes bought. It’s in the video I will link that can do 9 miles to a KW. With that tech in it a Tesla could do like 1200 miles on a charge.
