Ronnie O'Sullivan
Just booked his place in the Masters final,a competition he first won 29 years ago.
He's quoted as saying ,about the younger players- " They need to get their acts together because I'm going blind, got a dodgy arm,and they still can't beat me "

He’s been nominated a few times, never won it.
He’s also right about the younger players. Some may say arrogant, but the standard coming through isn’t great, and hasn’t been for a while.
Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
I expected Brecel to kick on after his superb win at the World Championship, but he’s been pretty awful since winning.
Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
OK I hadn't realized he'd been nominated. Damned shame he has never won it though. We may never see the like with his talent again.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 5:42 pmHe’s been nominated a few times, never won it.

Brecel’s run to the WC title truly one of the best I’ve ever seen. Very much an all or nothing player though and he’s admitted that he doesn’t really put in the practice he should.

I find his talk funny because I think he's taking the p!ss and it's an act. Like he's said ... it's just a job!!! Haha

Haha yes i used to think the same but its been going on a while now but having watched his recent documentary on prime, its far from just a job for him, thats him playing it down and taking pressure off himself. I fully recommend it if you havent seen it, the scenes of him in the dressing room during the world champ final is a fantastic bit of insight.

So if you win the Masters Rinnie you will be the youngest and oldest winner....what other records have you got your eye on?
I don't look at records etc. I don't worry about things like that.
Pause
I've already got them all!
Brilliant! Hope he wins.

Genius at work
Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
Done it again. Bit of help from Ali who went off the boil tonight. But nothing can be taken away from the phenomenon that is Ronnie.

I love how he just doesn't care. It's like he's got nothing better to do than enter championships and getting to finals just keeps him busy.

Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
To sustain the level of excellence for so long in any sport, to be still moving forward in your forties is phenomenal. You could also put up an argument that the level of competition in snooker is the greatest its ever been.. and to still be coming out on top.. truly remarkable

Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
Had a fairly simple shot with the rest. Took on a far more difficult shot, played left handed and went round the angle of the 2 cushions to get on the black and won the frame. Watching a genius at work.
Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
Utter class. Could tell how much he wanted to win this evening, went back to playing proper snooker not the exhibition stuff hed been playing throughout the tournament.
Carter didn't have the minerals to live with it, psychologically destroyed by the end.

Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
Yep, played him at his own game a bit. Played some sensible safety where usually he would have gone in all guns blazing. Carter crumbled in those final two frames. Never been a fan of him since the foul incident a few years back.
Ronnie is the greatest to ever play the game, and one of our all time greatest sportsman.
Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
He was even potting the long ones a lot more this week, i always think thats his only weakness relative to the rest of his game. Once those start going in hes unbeateable.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 10:28 pmYep, played him at his own game a bit. Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
Great player, he doesn't half attract some idiots in the crowd though. Think that got to Carter a bit last night.

Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
Felt a bit sorry for Ali who'd played brilliantly all week to get to the final.
I think it was losing that 15th frame when he had a good chance to go 8-7 ahead that really got to him along with the crowd becoming a bit unruly.
I think Ronnie smelt blood from that point on and although he missed a few easy pots during breaks where you'd normally expect him to clear up, Ali couldn't quite compose himself enough to take the chances to get himself back into it.
What a Champion Ronnie is though, a flawed genius maybe but surely the best of all time and a joy to watch when he's in the groove and making the game look easy.

I’d say there’s quite a list to challenge O’Sullivan.

Re: Ronnie O'Sullivan
Fancied Trump to win this final before it started.
Being 48 years old has to take its toll on Ronnie sometime.

Been really poor quality so far this one from both players. Hope if goes 5-3 so we have an interesting evening session.

how do you know it's genuine?ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 7:25 pmWhy he’s genuinely got a foot injury, does it give him any advantage ?
he runs miles every day but can't wear shoes for snooker?
and it's not about advantage; it's about him thinking he's different.
a great player but a child.

Trump has made more ostentatious fashion choices than O’Sullivan’s trainers in the past, so I don’t really understand the issue.

and just because he's great doesn't excuse the sloppy sycophants dripping over an odious man.
if that boggles your mind put some trainers on.

One of the greatest snooker players of all time and you're bothered about a pair of trainers.
The mind boggles.

The fashion police in any sport is deplorable. Any player should be entitled to wear what they are comfortable in to give their best performance.
The beach volleyball is outrageous with the ladies forced to play in what are essentially thongs.
