Good report. Are you still holding onto some hope about survival?

Re: REPORT: Controversial late goal denies the Clarets a win
Very little. If Everton were to get some points back then we’d be having to catch teams who are running at around a point per game. To get to that level by the end of the season we’d need another 26 points from 17 games.JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 9:20 pmGood report. Are you still holding onto some hope about survival?

Re: REPORT: Controversial late goal denies the Clarets a win
As i posted somewhere else on here, probably our only chance of survival is if one of the sides directly above us, like Brentford (who've dropped like a stone lately), Everton, Forest etc., go on an horrendous losing run of form, whilst we produce a flurry of coupon-busting wins.
First part of that theory is quite possible, not confident about the second.
And the home game against Fulham is now must win.

The phrase "Too good to go down" probably applies to Everton in the current circumstances. Even if they don't overturn the deduction they are comfortably a mid-table side with far better players than the teams around them.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 10:01 pmVery little. While I take the point about the deduction, they are still perilously close to the relegation zone and lost their last three PL games, so I’m not sure about the comfortably in mid table shout ‘even if they don’t overturn it’.

A fair and balanced report, thank you CT.

An excellent, well balanced report.
It will be interesting to see the response from those posters who have been abusing others for saying exactly the same thing, since Friday night.

Re: REPORT: Controversial late goal denies the Clarets a win
Correct summary of the game as usual.
However, no matter how dire the game was, I did see a team battle.
Second half Luton were far less dominant, and I thought our game management and fighting spirit was quite good.
But then again the substitutions (certainly bringing on the lightweight Tresor) didn’t help us.
In case that goal would have been rightly disallowed, then we’d however be able to reflect on a victory which resembled so many of those under SD.

Good report. On their goal it’s interesting how ex strikers Glen Murray and Shearer think it’s a goal. I can almost guarantee if we see any contact with the keeper in today’s game a free kick will be given. I’m getting fed up this boys/ girls club-refs and var sticking together. I can remember like it was yesterday VK’s assault on Lennon, it was the clearest red you’ll ever see.
Re: REPORT: Controversial late goal denies the Clarets a win
It was a foul 30 years ago never mind now. He made no attempt to play the ball, its blatant obstruction. As Kompany said we should do that all the time from now on if that's allowed. They can't just make the rules up as they go along.beddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 9:40 amGood report. On their goal it’s interesting how ex strikers Glen Murray and Shearer think it’s a goal. Yep - given VKs “exploits” as a tough tackling it’s amazing he thought that Trafford walking into a defender and collapsing is reason to give a foul.beddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 9:40 amGood report. Very good report. I totally agree about the officials allowing Lutons goal.

Can we buy Ashley Barnes back?
