Where was Berge
Has anything been reported re Berge on Friday, we all know why Taylor and beyer were missing, but where was Berge. If not injured, big questions should be asked because against a team like Luton, should have been one of the first on team sheet.

Do t think there is an obligation on the club to announce in a press conference details of an employee’s personal health or to give the opposition information about the potential line up.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 10:37 amWith what though, is he injured, is he ill. That's my point, to leave everyone wondering why he wasn't in the squad is just daft, surely kompany should surely state that he was or wasn't available.

His name not appearing anywhere on the team sheet would indicate to the vast majority of people that he wasn't available.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 10:37 am.... surely kompany should surely state that he was or wasn't available.

Re: Where was Berge
If a member of my team at work calls to say he won’t be in the office because he’s ill and / or needs to go to the doctor, I don’t ask him the precise details of his illness because they’re adults, I trust them and it may well be a delicate matter.
Now I’ve no doubt within a football club, the finer details are discussed with a view to recovery, they are elite sportsmen, but why on earth do they need to tell us what somebody is ill with? What business is it of ours? He was ill. End of story.
The perceived ‘ownership’ of football players by fans astounds me at times.

Re: Where was Berge
I missed the game on Friday. In the morning I was fine and looking forward to it but by 4pm I was flattened by a tummy bug, as at this morning I have lost nearly 11lbs.
There are a lot of things can go wrong without warning so maybe Berge was a victim of similar circumstances.

In fact probably just the opposite; without the player's expressed consent I would expect the club would be in bother if they did publicise such private information.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 10:46 amDon't think there is an obligation on the club to announce in a press conference details of an employee’s personal health...

Just a thought - we have had 4 red card’s Zaroury, Foster, Roberts and Berge. All four served their time but went missing immediately afterwards for “various reasons”. Maybe there is some form of club discipline in place ??

I also started to wonder if that was more than co-incidence, but in this case we would be definitely cutting off our nose.IWOODLOVETT wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 12:09 pmJust a thought - we have had 4 red card’s Zaroury, Foster, Roberts and Berge. Why on earth would we drop our better players for crucial games? Especially when a couple of those cards were highly debatable.

Re: Where was Berge
Exactly what I was thinking. I am guessing but suspect VK can be quite quite retaliatory if he feels he has been let down, or if you cross him.None of us expect to see a medical report or scans but I feel the club is so hush-hush and its hard to know who is ill, injured or out of favour. I listen to all the PL managers press meetings prior to their games and in just about all of them you get something relevant to players who are unlikely to play ie he got a knock; or he developed a bug overnight;or he is not quite match fit;or he is still recovering from his earlier injury. Ekdal is a good example where we had no information for his absence then out of the blue starts last Friday. Obefemi is a real unknown,to the extent why don't we just move him on. Then we have the vagueness over players like Benson, Zarroury, Cork and a few more then they resurface. I appreciate the need to protect players and recall the irresponsible statement of Hull City and Steve Bruce when Austin failed a medical there, but we are just about the least transparent club in the PL when it comes to giving a brief resume of a players fitness or health, or why they are suddenly unavailable.IWOODLOVETT wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 12:09 pmJust a thought - we have had 4 red card’s Zaroury, Foster, Roberts and Berge. Re: Where was Berge
The most ridiculous suspension we got last season was on the back of Maatsen’s red card against Blackpool.
Didn’t stop him coming straight back in.
It would be a really weird thing to punish yourself twice.

Re: Where was Berge
Foster came straight back in at Luton. Roberts was a regular until his red card though but strangely hasn’t started a league game since.IWOODLOVETT wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 12:09 pmJust a thought - we have had 4 red card’s Zaroury, Foster, Roberts and Berge. Nothing said by the club on Berge as far as I know but I’ve read that he was ill. I knew that Beyer, Delcroix & Taylor were all out injured and I believe Redmond is too. No idea about Ramsey.

Re: Where was Berge
This is the "Team News " given out on Friday on the club web site
"Defender Charlie Taylor and forward Lyle Foster were both forced off in the FA Cup trip to Tottenham last weekend. Jordan Beyer missed the trip to London with an injury picked up at Villa Park in the previous league fixture. Midfielder Sander Berge returns to the squad after serving his one-match suspension at Spurs with the red card picked up against Villa. "

If he was ill, that can develop quite suddenly - maybe he was fine Thursday night and he took ill on the day? I dunno. Anyway, it’s a shame, because we missed him massively.

Agree, but furthermore still nothing in the press anywhere or on the club website or at least not that I've seen, so are people to believe now that he was fit to play, because if so is yet another issue.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 3:13 pmThat’s just about as big a waste of time as it could be.

Been like this for years, especially under dyche where injuries are concerned, and for various reasons quite correctly. Like dyche used to say.. It's the 1% that makes the difference... Clear what up? The club have said he was ill so he didn't play, end of story.
If people want to make up easily disprovable cobblers like players being dropped for getting sent off or whine because the club aren't uploading full medical records on the official website that's their problem.
As said above, some people's sense of entitlement really is hilarious.

Sorry, thought they had. I heard it mentioned a few places on Friday and someone above said local journalists were reporting it.
The rest of my post still stands though; even if it wasn't disproved by suspended players instantly returning in the past, the idea that Kompany would further deprive himself of them just to prove a point is absolute tinfoil hat stuff.
