Hobbies outside of Football and Burnley FC
Go on then what you into ?
Boxing/UFC - I watch most fights and events. Used to do abit of boxing/kickboxing when I was younger something im tempted to try again just can’t find the time.
Swimming - Been going swimming regularly for the last 3 years, 3 or 4 times a week. It’s something I really enjoy.
Snooker - Watch and play
Gaming - I’m not a massive gamer but I do like to play on the PS5 every now and then, I’m pretty good at good at FIFA in the top 10k in the world which is good considering the amount of millions that play it.
Gambling - Frowned upon by many but I love a football bet, usually have some sort of bet 7 days of the week if there’s games. Probably am addicted but can manage at the moment.
Dog Walking - Take my best mate out for a nice long walk, really helps clear the head and gives me space to think.
Padiham FC- A regular at most home games.

Running - started about 6 yrs ago for my mental and physical health but ive consistently got a significant injury every year (for about 3-4 months at a time) so I’m always back to square one. Trying a different approach now of running for a length of time rather than miles at steadier paces. I don’t race just enjoy doing it for me and getting out in the countryside.

Love my cricket & boxing but don’t really watch anything else on tv, maybe the odd Netflix series or 24 hours in police custody.

Going to watch live music and darts completes my life.
Re: Hobbies outside of Football and Burnley FC
Music - don’t think there’s many things better than a live gig and the only thing on a par with going to a game. I still buy CDs of my favourite artists and will always endeavour to have a full back catalogue of each.

Golf and fitness training for me.
Play golf three times a week when weather allows and go to fitness classes (Pilates, HIIT, yoga) four times a week.
I love travelling but the location has to have a golf theme.
I do like the occasional trip to watch Chester RUFC on a Saturday as well.

Re: Hobbies outside of Football and Burnley FC
Gaming - using this as a substitute for drinking excessively atm so I’ve dug out the old ps2 and got my games out from yesteryear which I’m enjoying. I also like to play a bit of football manager too.
Betting - I also like a bet on the weekend. I’m doing matched betting also now which is going well.
Family - it sounds cheesy but my daughter takes up most of my free time and doing the things she likes brings me the most happiness and fulfilment.
Always open to new hobbies though so this is an interesting thread.

Gaming - not in the top 10k of FIFA players but I play a lot of different games. Just redone the Arkham series and next I will either replay the first 3 Metal Gear Solid games or cyberpunk.
Reading - currently on Dracula as my wife got me a lovely copy for Christmas and I have not read it since I was a kid.
Walking the dog.
Exercise - slowly getting back into it after a long Christmas break!
Spending time with the wife (and the dog) - Love an evening in with the wife just chilling and watching whatever series we have going on, currently it's Game of Thrones.

Eva Peron/Evita
Malcolm Campbell

Re: Hobbies outside of Football and Burnley FC
Reading anything but currently trying to do as many classics as I can just finished The Count of Monte Cristo an absolute epic book
An obsessive vinyl collector I was put on a record buying ban a few years ago by my partner only allowed them on special occasions but I still try and manage to sneak them in.
Since I virtually gave up drinking 8 years ago every Sunday from Spring until the Autumn we go for a drive out and try and find quaint little places we have never been to.I sometimes think back now of all those days wasted in the pub!

Re: Hobbies outside of Football and Burnley FC
At the age of 53, I've just started collecting and playing Scalextric!
I also decided just before Christmas that I wanted to learn about electronics and build stuff....just in the early stages with this hobby!
I love playing Poker tournaments online and regularly get to the final table especially in Omaha/Omaha hi-lo games.
I have a weekly bet or two on the footy (no more than a tenner per match week).
Walking the dog.

Re: Hobbies outside of Football and Burnley FC
Mine have changed as I've got older to some extent, or should I say reduced.
I try to do some walking now - and my diabetic says it is the best exercise I can get
Music - concert days over, but I just have music playing virtually all of the time
Cricket - probably my favourite sport
The list does reduce as you get older

Hiking and walking the dog.
Restaurant and eating out.
Listening to dance music - bars, clubs, festivals
Travel - get away as often as possible. Beach, culture, city, adventure. I enjoy planning and researching g holidays, as much as actually being on holiday.
Whatever my son is currently into, playing outdoors or play zones, petting farms, swimming, wrestling....this takes up most of my time.
Like Burnley1989 I enjoy my work and do hours outside of the office.

Walking the Dales and Lakes is a passion, people who recommend it for relieving stress are not wrong.
Birdwatching, although I've been lacking lately.
I used to do water colours, and I've found that the times when the weather, or circumstances, keep me indoors I get bored very quickly. A day of watching telly is a wasted day. So I'm considering getting the old paint brushes out.

Fly fishing- am secretary of a local trout fishing club (Nelson Angling Association) who have the rights to Upper and Lower Coldwell reservoirs. If anybody on here is interested in joining us then get in touch…
Reading- Mostly history (WWI, The Holocaust, anything BFC related in particular) but also graphic novels, Tom Sharpe, Clive Cussler, Frank Herbert (Dune).
Pétanque (aka Boules)- used to play in leagues when I lived in Rutland and Suffolk and really miss it now I’m back here in East Lancashire.
Lego- loved it as a kid, grew out of it as a teenager, growing back into it now I’m in my mid/late 40s. Some of the big sets are seriously fun to focus on.
Doctor Who- not so much much “Nu-Who” but “Classic Who”. I’ve got all of the originals (1963-1989) on dvd and enjoy watching them.
Live music- you just can’t beat the buzz of a live gig! My favourite live act at the moment are ‘Ghost’; they always nail it!
That pretty much covers it I think.

Reading - I have about 150 books on my 'to read' shelves. Mainly British crime fiction and tv/film/music reference books.
Travelling - especially cruises. Done over 50 countries now & have 3 cruises booked for this year.
Quizzing. Competing, compiling & presenting
Watching cricket. Probably my favourite sport & really the only one I'm interested in other than football.
Watching British black & white films from the 1940s to the 1960s. I have over 300 in my DVD collection.
Eating out. Love trying new restaurants.
Cats. Always had them & my favourite animal by far.

Spending time with my wife and daughter
Planning somewhere to visit. Going munich end of April for the fruhlingfest and hopefully doing a day trip to salzburg.
Collecting and drinking beer. I've worked in the beer industry for 15 years now. Love finding different beers to try and obviously drinking them.
Exercise including gym work, cycling and running. Currently laid up with sciatica and a slipped disc so haven't done any of this since early November.
Fell walking. Love going up the lakes. Planning on doing ben nevis via the cmd arete this summer. All health permitting.
Then all the other things that take my time up like completing my diploma in Health and safety (I'm doing through my union) and getting my house ready to move
Amazing how quickly my day goes now I have my 4 year old daughter

Running. I usually do between 50 and 70 miles a week depending on injuries.
Do mainly fell races and try to train on the fells as much as I can. Did the fellsman last year (60miles over most of the dales mountains). Think I’m going to do Lakeland 13 valleys and his year, 115 miles.
Got in the London marathon this year so training for that currently. Aiming for sun 2:40 but probably won’t achieve that.
Cycling. Fair weather so mainly in summer

Re: Hobbies outside of Football and Burnley FC
tbh dont have much time outside of football to do much else (I coach an u14 team & on the committee of the club) but walking the dog is the way I relax
In fact just got back from Towneley after taking Bertie there to burn off some pent up energy
Only issue now is we went with a cream dog and have come back with a black one

Fell walking - well, I fell walking about 5 times last week just trying to walk the dog in the ice.
I would be into Astrophotography - I've got all the stuff for it -Celestron Nexstar 8SE telescope, ZWO ASI-224 camera and full range of accessories but I'm just too dumb to use it.

Track & Field Athletics
This takes up most of my time, I'm the type of person that once I start with something, I'm all in. I'm not young anymore but feel I can still mix it with people half my age.

Running. Took it up many years ago, to provide a focus for my “stop smoking “ efforts. Still love it, although these days it’s 10 k rather than half-marathon. (btw interested to see how many other posters are runners - some real hardcore!
Walking with my dog. Now that I have more time, a daily treat.
Bowls. Took it up, to get to know people, when we relocated to a Cornish village six years ago. A wonderful game, and an excellent way to spend summer evenings.
Crosswords. To try and keep my brain active.

Pure hobby:

Re: Hobbies outside of Football and Burnley FC
Joined Merlin last year, so working at themeparks & Lego a lot. Getting sets very reduced in price and just came back from Legoland California, seeing everything behind the scenes pretty awesome.
Hoping to take the family to new thorpe park ride in spring (or myself with 'work')

My Daughter takes up much of my time.
Yoga stretching & walking daily ..unfortunately i'm looking at concrete instead of the beautiful countryside most of you enjoy. Light weights....really need to join a gym. Occasional swim.
Sound bath meditation classes a couple of times a week.....but have to drive 30 mins to get there, defeats the object really (horrible place to drive).
Collecting and reading books Poetry & prose mainly (older hardbacks in good condition)
Yrs ago i thought i was a painter ...now i hardly ever do.
Movies usually once a week & a good Belgian ale to follow.
Trying to curtail drinking as much as possible (not easy for me)......it gets in the way of everything else.
Really envious of all the countryside and Moorland walkers on here. It's ugly here.

Although I’ve been in hospital for three days now I like the following.
Playing tennis three times a week.
Table tennis once a week.
Was playing walking football until my hamstring gave me to much grief.
Social anthropology.
Listing to live music, folk these days.
Our local history group.
Attending live talks on various subjects.
Sampling real ale in moderation.
Listening to the radio, the world service being my favourite for its variety of subjects broadcasted.
My latest interest is in the present horrendous situation in Palestinian, it has energised me after a tuff recent past.
That will do for now I think.
I find that as I get older the more I get interested in different things.
