Re: Palace Flag at The Emirates
it's probably the exact opposite, fairly obvious our lot have a vision and a plan............it's the execution of it that is questionable at the moment

It was only a few years ago that they were being hailed as the template for everyone to follow with the appointment of Viera along with a bunch of new signings.
Theyve lost Zaha and had injuries to Olise and Eze most of the season. Any team would struggle in that scenario.
The big mistake theyve probably made is to lose Zaha on a free so they didnt get any money into replace him

I was surprised to see that Olise was in Man City’s u-18s but left for Reading. What happened there?
Re: Palace Flag at The Emirates
Tbf going back to Hodgson seemed a negative, backward step. Think he'll limp on to the end of the season then Potter or Steve Cooper will end up there.

Not for us. We have a very clear vision and plan.
Maybe for a club like Rovers.

I'm not quite sure what else they could have done not to let him go on a free, if they would have sold him earlier they ran the risk of relegation & they did everything to get him to extend by offering him the highest they'd ever offered anybody else. They did well keeping him for as long as they did & getting the best of his prime year's.Goliath wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 1:33 amIt was only a few years ago that they were being hailed as the template for everyone to follow with the appointment of Viera along with a bunch of new signings.

True, could look at it either way but youd imagine they could have got 50 or 60 million at his peak. Surely you have to trust your recruitment team to be able improve the team with that money.

Shades of tarks really with him running it down & the club not wanting to cash in. Happen they could have sold & replaced but for whatever reason(s) they decided not to, sometimes you are better off with the devil you know,
Re: Palace Flag at The Emirates
He was sold to Man U in 2013 aged 21 for £10-15 million (what would that equate to in today's transfer market?) but it didn't work out. Two years later he was back at Palace for £3-6 million.

That's true but what he might not realise is that United ensured that a sell on clause was attached which is another reason that they was reluctant to sell as united would have received a percentage.

Re: Palace Flag at The Emirates
To lose the likes of Zaha and have injuries to Olise and Eze has been an almost incalculable loss to Palace . Roy was brought in last season as a safe pair of hands , but they’ve looked dreadful and the worse palace side I’ve seen at Burnley in recent history. Roy’s team talks of “
Just give it to Wilf” are no doubt confusing for the players though .
