Songs that passed you by, that you’ve only recently stumbled upon
My parents often played music throughout the evening and I’ve heard, God only knows (not the beach boys song), how many Enya tracks in my lifetime.
However, for some reason or another, I’d never heard this ‘classic’…Caribbean Blue. Proper music. They don’t make ‘em like this too often, any more.
Feel free to share songs that you were late arriving on…

Weirdly Mott the Hoople was the same thought I had when I saw this thread. Didn't really pass me by as they'd finished before I was born, but a brilliant band. This would be my pick.

Always dismissed the Pet Shop Boys as a bit of a throwaway 80's tacky electro pop band. That was until I heard this amazing song which could quite easily have been written by a band like The Beatles or The Beach Boys and plain old Neil Tennant

Jazz music, generally, passed me by for many years but I've really started appreciating it recently.

I've started to admire bands from the 80s I was ambivalent about like Japan and the solo work of David Sylvian.
Their keyboard Barbieri went on to play with Porcupine Tree. From there I've listened to King Crimson and Robert Fripp all of which I knew but didn't really appreciate much.
As for Jazz I've started listening to ECM because Sting's guitarist Dominic Miller is on it as a solo artist and listened to a lot of Manu Katche - Peter Gabriel's drummer - so I now listen to more Gabriel.
It's like following a trail of artists back to the 70s and 80s.

In my case it has to be Leonard Cohen. Recently added a lot of his tracks to my Spotify collection and listen to it over and over again. Genius.

The XTC version of 'All Along the Watchtower' is what you might call interesting!

My mate used to rave about Van Morrison's Astral Weeks when we were younger but I never took to it until a month or two back.
