No, just this test.Flixtonclaret1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 9:34 amGreat effort CW .
Thankfully watching at EOT is less hassle - plenty of beer
water on tap and sunscreen never required.
Are you out there for the whole series?

Reading through page 1 of this thread it was pretty obvious that Pope and Hartley would be vying for the MOTM award.

India are great when everything going their way but can't cope under any kind of pressure.

Brilliant day for England
Hartley has been sensational and will be a massive problem for India if they provide more turning wickets
Big shout to our sensational captain Stokes who persisted with Hartley in the first innings when he began with some nerves ( absolutely expected) and encouraged him and had confidence in Hartley.

This is Stokes’s greatest trait as a captain I think. He’s loyal and it has paid off time and time again.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 10:03 am7 down now

Agree
Pope has dug us out big time but it shows what a good stand can give you. All this without Brook too.

That drop by Axar is proving very costly.

India now putting up a fight.....we need a wicket before end of play.

Ind 164-7
Need 67 runs to win
Ashwin, hopping onto the back foot, uses the middle of his bat again.
Most of the ground is in shadow now. An England fan in a Burnley shirt fiddles nervously with his bucket hat.

Re: India Vs England 1st Test
Hey multiple spin options in India, who'd have thought it?!
Long time coming that, congratulations to everyone involved.
So pleased to see us play multiple spinners in the sub-continent - baffled me for years why we'd go there with four seamers in the attack.
Superb

Re: India Vs England 1st Test
What a debut for lad who prior to this test had only taken 40 first class wickets. Tremendous test match that, surely one of the best of Stokes reign.
Re: India Vs England 1st Test
What a win. Pope and Hartley take a bow.

Re: India Vs England 1st Test
SSN reported that Hartley has become only the sixth player in test history to score more than 20 in both innings and take two or more wickets in each innings of his debut

Hartley is absolutely nowhere near Test level, not even Lancashire’s best spinner.

Re: India Vs England 1st Test
The best figures by an England spin bowler on Test debut in 91 years in that second innings.
I don’t think many would have called that after the first innings!
Also India have been 100+ runs ahead in the first innings at home 106 times - that’s the first one they’ve lost.

Got to say fair play to Stokes and the management team too. A massive call just to pick one quick in Woody, but they called the conditions perfectly..

Re: India Vs England 1st Test
I’ve not seen anything of this test but have just watched the few mins highlights of the fourth day while waiting for things to calm down at West Brom.
It has to be noted that the partnership between Pope & Hartley proved to be key.
I know the conditions were favourable for spin but how well did he bowl? Superb performance from him.

Hmm. You were saying?MrTopTier wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 11:36 amThis is a three day test at best.
Inexperienced spinners, no warm up games and a team that is generally poor in terms of batting against spin. Up against a side that is none of the above and haven’t lost a series for ten years at home.
Tells you a lot about what we are thinking regarding test cricket.
Poor all round.

Re: India Vs England 1st Test
Can't think of a more impressive win after one innings each.
Shame it is on BT which means I only see a wicket or 2 now and again elsewhere but what a win.

Can anyone explain why the Australia v Windies game seemed to be played in an empty stadium?
Re: India Vs England 1st Test
KL Rahul and Jadeja out of the 2nd Test. Jadeja in particular is a massive loss for them.
