What was the attendance then near 50 thousand at a guess?

No Longside Roof.
No Turf Moor estate.
No floodlights.
Bee Hole End slopes off to the right.

Re: Burnley v Liverpool February 1952
Dad often talked about this game.......mainly for two reasons, one he was part of this massive crowd, crushed on the Bee Hole End and two the emergence of one of his favourite ever Burnley players, Les Shannon.
He went to Ewood Park a couple of weeks later for the 6th Round and another 53,000 crowd. This time, sadly, the result of the game was not as good.

The days when both teams changed their strip in the event of a colour clash.

Too late to edit above but at the bottom I spotted it is actually from the Burnley Express, which seems odd when reading it.
Re: Burnley v Liverpool February 1952
I wonder what color shirts we played in ? I remember we played in navy blue when we beat New Brighton 9-0 in the cup. 56/7 or 57/8 I think
Re: Burnley v Liverpool February 1952
Just noticed that at the end of the report it said that ‘the new strip looked good’ so maybe we played in Claret and not a change strip as commented on by jet black cat ?
Re: Burnley v Liverpool February 1952
As mentioned previously if there was a colour clash in an FA Cup game both teams had to change. We played in navy blue shirts in this game.

Re: Burnley v Liverpool February 1952
Rarely happened but sometimes if the clubs couldn’t agree on allowing the home team to wear their usual home kit, both teams would change.
From memory, the last time we changed for a home tie in the FA Cup was against Wrexham in 1974 but in all the years I’ve been watching it was a rare event.
Re: Burnley v Liverpool February 1952
So according to the report that must have been the first time we played in navy blue. This was the season before I started watching. Thanks for the info
Re: Burnley v Liverpool February 1952
We played in blue shirts in the 1947 FA Cup Final, though that was more of a royal blue rather than navy.
Re: Burnley v Liverpool February 1952
True. I had forgotten that. I was sort of at that game with my mother. She was pregnant with me so I didn’t have the best of views !!!

I had a similar seat in my first game but it was a lowly Gillingham. I expect I did a few kicks to get into the spirit of things.
