It would be a proper miracle! Exceeding even the imagination of Dali!

Come on Girona!

Aren't Girona backed with oil money à la Man City?

Part of City Football Group Limited (CFG).

They have a Ukranian lad, Anton Dvobyk, scoring a lot of goals in his first season in a major league.

We were briefly linked with him but then we were linked with a lot of players.

Owned by Sheikh Mansour so on the face of it no it wouldn't be a surprise

That said only 4 years in the top flight over their 100 years and a squad mostly of loans, free transfers and experience who are coached extremely well.

I'd say it's on a par with Leicesters title win - looking at the standard of La Liga this year, Barca and RM aren't anywhere near what they've been the last few decades so timing/luck comes into it too. They are VERY exciting to watch I've enjoyed catching some of their games this year and hope they do it

Would they be allowed to play in the Champions league of they have the same owners as City?

Undoubtedly. City do what they want.

Happened already with RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg. BBC Sport from 2017 -
Uefa ruled "no individual or legal entity had a decisive influence over more than one club".
I assume same applies to Girona, Man City and City Group.

Girona is a lovely City not that far from Barca but it's small and would be a bigger shock than Leicester for sure..

I've read it and it's a smashing read but not as good as Tim Park's - a season with Verona.

Would be a much bigger achievement imo. Yes they are part of the city football group but they are very much running their own sustainable ship, no extravagant spending at all really.

Small town too and virtually no top flight pedigree.

In Leicester’s title win all the big boys had a poor season, only spurs/arsenal pushed them remotely close and they won it comfortably with a low points total - Girona seem to be going toe to toe with Real which makes it much tougher.

The city football group ownership aspect will come into play in the summer in the sense that there will be no financial need to sell their best players. The biggest challenge may be keeping hold of Michel - especially now that the big boys up the road will be looking for a new gaffer next season.

Their ground only holds 14600.
Double miracle.

Wholly different scenario.
Total spend of €22.5m in the summer, but the net spend was just €4.6m.
2022-23, total €15m, net €14.25m
2021-22, spent nothing, €3m in sales.
2020-21 spent nothing, €8.7m in sales.

It's not even comparable to Leicester. If Girona win La Liga it's a staggering achievement, regardless of who owns them. They've had access to City kids on loan, sure, that isn't and shouldn't be a game changer on this level. If it were, Barca would walk the league every time just playing their own youth team.
Really does make you do a doubletake at our own model and business when our summer net spend was more than double their gross spend in the last 4 years. I think we'd probably be a lower-midtable side in La Liga as it happens but what they've done so far is nothing short of incredible. Reminiscent of how Bilbao manage to always be competitive despite exclusively signing Basque players.
