This has been a great game! Just as well, I am knackered!
One play and then a FG if they don't get a TD?

Clutch play from Kelce.
Overtime seems fitting for this game.

Re: Superbowl
Some player is Patrick. Wow
3 Superbowls for him now - he could genuinely match Brady.
Can't underestimate how important that punt recovery was - a huge momentum shift in the game, you just cannot give the Chiefs a sniff.

I enjoyed that game very much. Not as high scoring as people might have wished for. but I played defense in school so I always enjoy a good defensive game. KC had the better QB and coach, Mahomes turned it on when it counted, and Andy Reid made some good adjustments to get things going in the second half offensively.
Two deserving teams though for sure.

Re: Superbowl
Cagey game to start with.
Brilliant from Mahomes.
Not great in the regular season, but my have they come to the party in the playoffs and tonight.
No matter what sport, great players see the game differently. Unlucky 49r’s

Re: Superbowl
FFS, the whole Taylor Swift/Kelce stuff put me off the Superbowl this year, so much so that i decided for the first time in years not to take the day off today to watch it and it appears to be the best game for years!

Re: Superbowl
Reid/Spagnolo must be the best ever at HT adjustments.
Cracking game. For those that thought the first half was slow you have to enjoy the defensive side of the game as much as the offence. There were some immense plays by both Ds.
Roll on September.

As a Buccaneer fan, Defence has been one of the most enjoyable spectacles of the last 3/4 years for me.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 9:38 amReid/Spagnolo must be the best ever at HT adjustments.

Anybody got thoughts on the HT show?

Wasn’t very good, and it was Usher, so I expected far better from him tbhTricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 8:32 pmAnybody got thoughts on the HT show?

The Dr Dre one from two years ago was far superior
Re: Superbowl
Whoever the NFL's audience is for the half time shows isn't me. So I cooked a quick meal while it was on. Don't think I've watched one since Prince.

We were in Vegas to see U2 (first time there) last week and have to say the Superbowl buzz in the city was pretty good. And VC is right - the Allegient stadium is superb lit up.

Daughter had me watch the gig on youtube. Looks some arena. They used a zipline camera view during superbowl. She’s a Killers fanatic and is going over for the 20th anniversary show in September. She was praying it would be in the Sphere but I think she said Caesars Palace.

Anyone who watches and actively likes American Football cannot in any way shape or form ever complain about VAR in our game.

The game doesn’t flow, too many long stoppages and boring.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 7:48 amHow do you work that one out then? Two completely different games.

Re: Superbowl
It's annoying when people make sweeping statements like this - especially when I doubt you know the intricacies of American Football.
They are quite literally two different sports, one requires long stoppages and one doesn't.
American Football has a running clock and you can snap the ball as quick or as slow as you want as long as it's in the alotted time span.
The reason that they don't is multi factored but some reasons:
- It's an explosive sport with each play at maximum intensity, would be impossible to do so for a full game with continual snapping (though they do when time is short in something called a 2 minute-drill).
- It's highly tactical, after every play there tends to be a change of personnel either subbing people out that are tired/injured OR to lineup in a different formation to try and exploit/contain different parts of the opposition. An offense could be on 3rd down and long (meaning they only have 2 more attempts to get a new set of downs, usually punt/kick on 4th) and have five wide receivers out on the field, say they convert, the next down may sub back in 2 tight ends (hybrid of receivers and blockers) and running back in.
We don't do personnel substitutions in football and never have. Adding timeouts to a game that doesn't naturally have them will always make it worse.
Re: Superbowl
All team sports are highly tactical. Pick which ever one you want, ice hockey, Rugby, proper football etc etc. all of the mentioned are also faster have a natural game flow and a lot more entertaining.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 8:02 amIt's annoying when people make sweeping statements like this - especially when I doubt you know the intricacies of American Football.

Any form of entertainment is sucked out when the game stops continuously and resets.
