The stadium announcer saying 'Coming off, the birthday boy, Julian Alvarez' sums up just how cringy they are as a club.

I don’t think we are much better at all, the club has made huge mistakes in the summer window. I just think with time we’ll get there.
Not what you have been saying the past few months, our model isn't about time this is the issue.

That last goal, although meant nothing to the result, I feel is really important to us. We needed that. Just that shred of belief.

Those who were crying about lack of effort after 20 minutes should be happy tonight, thought we dug in well and even scored!

No praise for the effort? No taking back earlier comments?

Start Fofana instead of Amdouni against Fulham, playing in the Tella role.

Good post. Not said that very often tonight  .

We played fairly well but conserved energy once 2-0 down. The pressing became less intense. Very wise hopefully (but I am wary of what happened against Fulham after we played the reserves in Athens so it is no guarantee).

Does the obvious need repeating? We’re not very good right now but there’s reasons for that, young inexperienced side, mistakes in the summer and we’ve needed to pray those from last season were good enough.

I believe in time we will return stronger and better prepared to compete. You have no idea about the model, our squad at the moment could lose 6-10 and still be competitive at the top end of the league below.

I don’t think we’ve bought young players to firesale them after a year and build again, the last relegation was a one off.

We looked so much better when we went 5 at the back and 1 up front. Food for thought for the Liverpool and Arsenal games. Massengo had more touches in 5 mins than Amdouni had in the first half. Great assist by Fofana. Must start on Saturday in place of Amdouni. He has 2 major PL assets. Pace and Strength

1st goal against them for over 900 minutes. We apparently had 3 shots on target to their four.

It sounds as if city weren't really trying either.

Absolutely, but so many changes and player's we've not seen before that kompany will have even less of a clue who he's starting on Saturday, that's the problem, still doesn't know he's best 11 or 16, or best formation. But tonight's last 15/20 minute's should give him a clue. One thing I still can't work out is why vitinho is still the player chosen to protect Trafford, cos as we all know, he can't protect himself.

Tough slog but small shoots of optimism. If you’re into all that, we actually had a reasonably similar xG to City. We do create chances but guilty of not taking them, Amdouni in particular.
