Things could be worse.

Post by SalouClaret » Thu Feb 01, 2024 12:40 pm

Blackburn fans are having a meltdown. They genuinely seem confused as to why a player would choose to play for Crystal Palace over them

Whenever you're having a bad day, have a look at their forum. It's brilliant.

The ultimate legacy of Jack Walker seems to have been a whole population devoid of any sense of reality. Their trajectory for many years has been similar to our former plummet down the leagues… only checked so far at India’s expense. With it looking increasingly likely that funding is about to dry up further I think they have a lot more to worry about than selling a player to the Premier League.

They are (another) extremely good example of why FFP was conceived and brought in. Clubs being bank rolled way beyond their means is all well and good, until the bank roller, for whatever reason, packs it in. Then you're screwed. It's happened all over the place, from Darlington to Portsmouth via Bolton and loads of others. And it's a brilliant example of why the PL and FL need to properly enforce the rules now in place when it comes to the likes of Everton and City etc.

Sounds like the lads are gearing up for (yet another) boycott.

What are they all so upset about? Wharton being sold? What else?

Oh they'll have quite a few things on their minds.

The problem being the clubs in the Premier League automatically have huge revenue in comparison. So the spending power between the 2 divisions becomes even bigger.

I think the lad they are signing from Orlando will be good buy. Seemed to have collapsed last night but supposedly having his medical.

Yes, increased loan fee, £700k and increased signing fee, from £4,000,000 to £7,000,000 plus £2.5 in add ons.

Can't believe our Scouting team missed this guy ! He was the " Big East Offensive Player of the year " in 2022, I mean, what's going on ?

The chances of Venky's forking out £4m for this guy in the Summer are minimal ...

Wharton has signed for Palace for £22m. I think it's £18m + add ons. That solves the problem of Venkys not being able to put money in. Short term anyway.

Rover's have averaged an " operating loss " of around £400k a week for the last 3 years ... As many know, Venky's have fallen foul of the Indian Government's laws on remitting funds abroad, and every " tranche " of money they wish to send to Rovers has to now be approved by a Court ...

If this follows the usual arrangements, Rovers will get £9m today, with £4.5m on this date in 2025 & 2026 ... There is talk of Wharton being due a " loyalty fee ", agreed in his last contract renewal, because he didn't ask for the move, I've as much as £1.5m mentioned ..

If Rovers spend nothing on incoming transfers, it gives them breathing space of about 16-20 weeks ... unless further support from India can be freed up ..

 A genuine quote from their forum:

"Warnock, Potter, Cooper, Eustace. Any of those would give this squad a shake up and instil some fight. Worth trying."

Potter! The delusion is crazy
