World War 2 medals

Post by evensteadiereddie » Thu Feb 01, 2024 8:24 pm

It's a long shot but one of my auction alerts for anything Burnley related threw this lot of three sets of WW2 medals coming up soon, the first group having belonged to a Burnley lad.
I wonder if anybody on the board knew of the chap or knows his family and, if so, it might be a nice idea to let them know so that they can get them back into the family if they so wish.
The auction is a timed one that is based in Shrewsbury, ends on 20th Feb and is being run by Halls Fine Arts.

A quick search of the 1939 register shows a Peter & Fanny Hindle living at that address, with a child who may well still be alive. They were 30 and 28 respectively, he was a Colliery surface worker, she, a weaver ..

Please can you add a link to the above auction?
One of the names could be my great-grandad.

Cheers both.

Just need to ask my mum about the name and if he lived at the address at the time of issue.
