Block of seats in CFS
Why is there a block of fenced off seats in the away section of CFS, are they for a purpose, as they always seem to be empty, surely it would make more sense to incorporate them into the away fans allocation, as they are seen every time there is an attempt at that end, and it gives the impression of wasted seats.
Re: Block of seats in CFS
Is it not to segregate the fans.
Re: Block of seats in CFS
It's what was the directors box, used for club staff

If it is the box Nori says, it has access downstairs to the tunnel to changing rooms/old sponsor and player's bar from memory
Re: Block of seats in CFS
Some away teams are given it as a small additional allocation.Mark the Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 9:05 amWhy is there a block of fenced off seats in the away section of CFS, are they for a purpose, as they always seem to be empty, surely it would make more sense to incorporate them into the away fans allocation, as they are seen every time there is an attempt at that end, and it gives the impression of wasted seats.

But it's not used, so just block off access to under the stand areas and incorporate it into the rest of the stand.Loyalclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 10:18 amIf it is the box Nori says, it has access downstairs to the tunnel to changing rooms/old sponsor and player's bar from memory

Re: Block of seats in CFS
It was originally the Directors box when the stand was built and the Brunshaw Road stand was demolished to make way for the Bob Lord stand a few years later.
After the Bob Lord was built it became an area for players and stand not in the squad for whatever reason. It’s been made smaller in recent years but has access to the corridor under the stand where the changing rooms and players lounge are.

No I don't mean the segregation bit, I mean the small box of seats next to it.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 4:38 pmI’m not sure that’s the area he’s referring to. The old directors box is within the away section, I think the Op Is referring to an area between the two sets of fans.

Re: Block of seats in CFS
What I'm really asking is, if it is no longer used for that, why keep it?

It’s not been used as a directors box since 1974 when they moved into the new Bob Lord stand. For some time it was used by some staff but no idea who goes in there now.Mark the Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 5:36 pmWhat I'm really asking is, if it is no longer used for that, why keep it?

That's the point, no one goes in, so why not utilise it.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 5:43 pmIt’s not been used as a directors box since 1974 when they moved into the new Bob Lord stand. For some time it was used by some staff but no idea who goes in there now.

Re: Block of seats in CFS
I’ve just taken this pic from yesterday’s highlights. There are two sets of empty seats. The ones on the left (blue) are the old directors box but there were more seats to the right of them that I’ve not seen before.

Re: Block of seats in CFS
I think the seats to the right were unsold by Fulham, away fans usually use them, unless we've cut down the away allocation, and nobody mentioned it.
Re: Block of seats in CFS
Fulham had mini support. Assume those seats to be the last sales.

Re: Block of seats in CFS
That's why I asked at the top of the thread. Those seats look a completely different colour to any others in there and I'd noticed them before yesterday. As you say, they are probably used by away fans.Mark the Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 6:09 pmI think the seats to the right were unsold by Fulham, away fans usually use them, unless we've cut down the away allocation, and nobody mentioned it.
Re: Block of seats in CFS
Pretty sure it was called the 35 club, the old players lounge was under there along with a mini fitness room, the old players lounge was claimed by George Bray in the 80's not sure what he used it for but it was always loud

How it’s changed in size from the 1970’s, to late 80’s/early 1990’s to now.

Re: Block of seats in CFS
I think that’s possibly because from the pitch, the seats to the right have a cover over them? So that entire block from top to bottom has been covered for the past two home games.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 6:47 pmThose seats look a completely different colour to any others in there and I'd noticed them before yesterday.

Re: Block of seats in CFS
I'm not sure what that area is currently used for. But, it seems like a (minor but not zero) risk scenario to have access to the players' tunnel, in the middle of the home end. (Regardless of one or two stewards gazing into space next to it.)
I am surprised they didn't fill that in and remove the tunnel when they moved the players' tunnel, a few years ago.
(Also - this is obviously secret Exit A - when the large illuminated signs, annoyingly [for me] say Exit B, Exit C, Exit D.)

Re: Block of seats in CFS
I actually think the exit to the left of the stand, which you can see Cardiff fans using at the end of last season in this image, but rarely gets used, is exit A?

Is this the tunnel/door that the Everton fan “found” and was wandering around the changing/manager rooms?
