Don't tell them your name Pike!

I've been catching those animated versions of Dads Army on Gold, they're quite good.

Pure comedy gold, I've watched these so many times and never tire of watching it.

Rest in Peace Ian Lavender and thanks for the laughs.

Like ALP, I’ve watched Dad’s Army many, many times and will no doubt watch it again. One of, if not the , best comedy series.
RIP Ian Lavender.

Pike: "By the time we finish supper, it's always so late, you never leave our house until after I've gone to bed and then you're back early for breakfast before I'm awake. But what I can't understand is that I never hear you leave at night and I never hear you come back in."

Wilson: "Well I let myself in and out very quietly"

Pike: "You don't do anything else very quietly!"

Gold, RIP Ian Lavender.

He was quite some actor back in the day. Special mention for his role playing Henry Ireton in Cromwell (1970 film) and Peter Guillam in the awesome BBC TV adaptation of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

One of the greatest sit coms ever - beautifully written and acted and finally the entire cast are back together with the stupid boy joining them.

Remember hearing a radio interview with Ian Lavender a few years ago..

He mentioned he was once doing a live stage play and a line from one of the other actors happened to be "what's your name?"

He said before his character got a chance to answer someone in the audience shouted out "don't tell him Pike!" :-)

RIP & thanks for the laughs.

Of the 69 actors & actresses who appeared in 2 or more episodes of Dad's Army, 60 have died, 6 are still alive & the whereabouts of 3 are not known. All the main players are now gone of course. R.I.P Mr Lavender (who by the way was an excellent wicket keeper in his younger days). Big Villa fan too, hence the claret & blue scarf he wore in the programme.

That really is the end of a wonderful era.

Brilliant series, which I think, started in black and white and took a few programs to catch on but became what it was due to the fantastic actors and script.

Classic comedy acting like that will never be repeated now.

Classic comedy. Can watch it over again without getting bored of it. Thought he was a bit younger and looked fit and healthy last time I saw him on tv. The casting and characters including Pike were brilliant.

    R.I.P Mr Lavender.

For me, Dads Army was second only to Eric & Ernie, as the funniest shows on TV.

The last major character from a great series now gone to join the rest. From the days when comedy shows were actually funny.

RIP Ian Lavender, part of one the best casts in any tv show ever.
There are two shows just starting on Gold, which I shall be watching as I always do.
One character who is still alive today is Caroline Dowdeswell who played Miss Janet King in five episodes of the first black and white series. She worked at the Swallow Bank with Messrs. Mainwairing, Wilson and Pike himself.

Gerry Anderson UFO fans may recall Michael Raystron was in one of the best episodes of the 2 series (The Sound of Silence).
