Was he the last amateur player for us Tony? I believe his son watches the clarets and like his Dad is a Solicitor in Burnley.

The only amateur I'm aware of who played for us post-war was Peter Kippax

From memory he scored both goals at Huddersfield and maybe 3 or 4 v New Brighton Also scored v Chesterfield in 7-0? win. Think he was like 18 ? RIP

At the time those of an older vintage were talking about a new Tommy Lawton

Would his 8 league games entitle him to a 59 /60 winners medal ?

A very capable deputy in the championship winning side, along with Fenton and Meredith.

He was indeed from Ouston. I think it might be close to Pelton where Jimmy Robson came from.

Meredith certainly did and was in the right place at the right time. A special name in Burnley history. Did Ian Lawson score 2 goals in a 2-1 win at Huddersfield as well. I was there along with about 54000 others I think but might be getting confused. I was on my dad’s shoulders the whole game. No idea how he did that Thanks dad

A special goal that was at Huddersfield and then played in the 6th Round draw at Villa.......and for some reason did'nt play in the replay at Villa Park.
