VK wanting to confuse Klopp with his selection - he's certainly confused me
Ridiculous to select Ramsey based on his performances so far.

Re: Today’s thread - Liverpool v Burnley
Well, Wes Foderingham has played every game for Sheff Utd. Jordan Pickford has played every game for Everton. Thomas Kaminski has played every game for Luton…
Re: Today’s thread - Liverpool v Burnley
I’m convinced Kompany hasn’t got a clue on what he’s doing. There’s no structure to his selections. It’s like throwing darts at a board and picking random players.

I’m not sure, but Trafford doesn’t.
Re: Today’s thread - Liverpool v Burnley
Memory fails me, but did pope play every game the last time we went down, if he didn't it will have been injury, and not being dropped...... Anyway it's time to leave this board for a few hours

Re: Today’s thread - Liverpool v Burnley
Probably. There will of course be countless examples of goalkeepers who are relegated having played every game. But the Trafford hating is real, and quite sad to see on a number of levels.
Re: Today’s thread - Liverpool v Burnley
Im sure he has a plan. The players just aren't as good as he thinks they are. Presumably he thinks Ramsey has the energy to track the full back and help us get on the ball picking up narrow spaces and linking with Amdouni, whilst allowing Assignon to get outside him.
More likely is he hardly touches the ball and just runs up and down all game.

Amdouni 2, Ramsey 1 and Trafford in injury time with the 4th

Indeed. Trafford is far from perfect, but he's not the reason we are where we are.

It's not that deep.
Traff's distribution is ponderous, inaccurate and we're a very poor watch now.
Lets at least have a go with the mad man.

Re: Today’s thread - Liverpool v Burnley
Has the feel of sacking this game off in terms of risking players carrying injuries, hopefully JBG and Lyle are back for Arsenal, which is more winnable. Kompany must, must be clear about the nature of Lyle’s injury afterwards, setting rumour mills going won’t help Lyle regardless (I see this thread has already started on that).
As for Ramsey, the only questionable one, he needs games to toughen up and at least this one is a free hit. He has been very unfortunate though to get picked for a lot of the games against the huge teams. Fulham last week the only one to get 20 minutes or more that aren’t the “big seven”. So lets go easier on him please and less of the pony nonsense which says more about the poster than the player.

How do you know who’s not going down? No idea, I just know Foderingham has played every game. As has Pickford, and currently they make up the bottom three with Burnley.

Benson surely on the right for Ramsey and Cullen in midfield with Amdouni dropped/Berge playing in that role would offer more stability to that team.

Yes it is. The only Burnley player I can recall getting as much abuse in recent times is Weghorst. This is no way to support a young lad playing in goal for the club they supposedly support. It’s really poor and it’s actually hard to ignore on this forum because it creeps onto every thread, and you don’t help matters.

I don't think he's particularly that good and I have no idea why VK persists with him.

Re: Today’s thread - Liverpool v Burnley
That hasn't been our strategy under Kompany since day 1. I agree with you that traditionally that's the priority, but that's not how we use the goalkeeper. If it was, and we set up accordingly, I could see more argument for Trafford, but it's not and we don't.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 2:49 pmHere was me thinking that the goalkeeper was there to try and keep the ball out of the net.
I'm bored of the keeper debate because it's pointless arguing- much like pretty much every resistance to relegation and toothlessness feels this season - purely chipping in to make the point that, an orthodox goalkeeper's job might be that first and foremost but that wasn't true of us last season and isn't this season either. Whether I agree with that or not, selection or not, not the point.

What do you expect given our league placing and given he's one of the main culprits. As you have in defence of him. As many posters have on various topics both for and against players.
The manager keeps selecting him and so it's still a point of contention.
More fans/posters now are commenting similar things also, people are bored of tepid performances and certain players keeping the shirt no matter what.
If he puts in performances that I think warrant his inclusion and the team as a whole look better than I'll of course want him to play - still haven't seen anything to justify his selection.
