I had this on VHS from the club shop.
Shows how much has changed in a fairly relatively short time at the club.

Re: Stan the Man documentary
I saw Stan last week and had a brief chat. Hard to believe it's closing in on twenty years since he left.

Re: Stan the Man documentary
Yep, I mentioned it last time it was posted on here that you also see Oliver Norwood at the open day waiting for autographs.
Re: Stan the Man documentary
Thanks ClaretsPadiham I really enjoyed that. Interesting to hear the comment regarding how Stan was one of the highest marked coaches at Lilleshall or words to that effect.

Is he still doing any scouting?
Strange how his management career just tailed off after us, one bad stint at Huddersfield and that was it.

Re: Stan the Man documentary
Is he still watching my posts with his son and solicitor present? I was accused of saying Stan was a Sunday League Manager and the solicitor thought it could be classed as libellous. I then pointed out I had said no such thing, what I actually said was results such as 6-5, 4-7 and the like that we experienced under Stan were usually only seen in Sunday League football and not in the English Football League. Stan was very good for Burnley and dragged us forward from the Mullen/Heath/Waddle seasons where we had been very poor and into the second tier, a division that we have been no lower than since promotion under Stan.

Re: Stan the Man documentary
I dont know him but often see him around Pike Hill, he looks in good shape.
Re: Stan the Man documentary
Yep was a Warnock esque short term appointment. He was a good manager but his reputation was clearly tainted by some of the daft results after the itv digital collapse which was unfair.
I think he might have been assistant or coach under Jewell at Derby as well
Re: Stan the Man documentary
I remember that post off his son, Dan, on the old claretsmad message boardHerts Clarets wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 11:06 amIs he still watching my posts with his son and solicitor present? Re: Stan the Man documentary
Poor Stan lost Kath his wife of 50 years and shortly afterwards his son Chris in what would have been an awful time for him. Nice to see reports of him looking so well again.

Re: Stan the Man documentary
I don’t think he’s scouting now. He worked for Steve Bruce for a number of years but turned down the chance to join him at Villa.
Re: Stan the Man documentary
I think i remember reading he'd been the scout that had been adamant to Bruce that they had to sign Robertson and Maguire at Hull after watching them. They didnt do too badly!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 3:57 pmI don’t think he’s scouting now. He worked for Steve Bruce for a number of years but turned down the chance to join him at Villa.
