Palace were just about to sack him as well, according to reports.

Austrian Oliver Glasner set to replace him, with some sources saying he's
already signed a deal.

You’d imagine they’ll now wait a few days until after Roy leaves hospital and announce the sacking then. All a bit shitty really for a guy who keeps coming back to help them out of a hole.

It’s got Glasner’s first game being against us written all over it.

I actually hope Everton will beat Palace on Monday. Suspect Everton will avoid relegation, but Palace could well be in the mire.

The way the Palace fans have treated him is disgusting imo.
I really hope the pressure theyve put on him hasn't damaged his health.

Think it's really shabby by CP if they've already signed Glasner up.
Roy was actually taking a training session when he was taken ill.

BBC football reporter Ian Dennis fuming on Five live tonight about it.

Decent person, competent manager alas to dull these days for a club that is in essence a house but calls itself a Palace.
Hope he gets well soon.

Not sure they will announce a sacking now… Roy’s a decent fella I think, he’ll give them an “out”.

Obviously hope he's ok, but it might work out better for both parties to say he's stepping aside for health reasons, rather than Palace having to sack him, which looked imminent.

Agreed with the above, Roy comes across as a gent and he’ll probably come to an amicable arrangement with Parish to save his bacon. Been treated pretty shabbily this season.

Wishing Roy all the best for a speedy recovery.
Top manager.
He knows his stuff, been around the top echelons of football for ages.
Nobody managers in the PL for as long as he has without being savvy.
A credit to football.

I couldn't agree more, Rick. I have always admired him. Dignified, thoughtful, articulate and knowledgeable.

Recently Vincent Kompany said that managers having a chat and a drink with each other happens far less in the Premier League than in the Championship because of media duties post game.

That reminded me that one year at Palace, Roy invited Sean Dyche in for a brew before the game. When asked if he'd accepted the invitation, Dyche gave a clear yes and said why would you not want to spend time talking to someone who has achieved so much in the game and has so much experience to offer. I do know that Dyche also liked Roy very much.

He was clearly just about to be sacked by Palace but whether he was or not, I just hope he's back fully fit and healthy again very soon. He comes across as a gentleman.

True Gent,
I dont think you could meet a nicer man, get well soon Roy, i dont think fat Sam will be sending Roy a get well card anytime soon, didnt he take ( allegedly ) the mick out of Roy not being able to pronounce his "R"s ......to$$er. Roy knows more than Fat Sam will ever know regarding England etc, get well soon Roy.

Top manager and the Premier League will be a poorer place without him, when he finishes as a manager. Wishing him well.,

To me it comes across as an engineered dignified exit without the official sacking which is the right thing in the circumstances he steps down for health reasons & everybody happily moves on. You can only wish him well in his long overdue retirement.

Many moons ago when Roy was manager of b@stards , he was on a flight with a group of us going to an Eng game , possibly the Rome game . We were giving him a bit of stick ( he was near rear of plane ) and when he walked past before getting off he actually had a brief chat with us , he was very friendly and asked “ so which club are you from then “? He’d clearly no idea about the rivalry but shook our hands . A small event for sure but always stuck in my mind .

I think you are right. He was going at season end, so now he will step down through ill health.
