- won’t dwell on this result
- last 10-15 games have seen us improve but that wasn’t good enough
- people will write us off but the players, fans and staff need to stick with it
- will build energy levels back up for next Sat
- too early to comment on Ramsey injury

A question might have been why Jayrod wasn't in the starting line up with Fofana and Ramsey benched.

It’s becoming apparent he is running out of things to say .. we move on to the next game he said , but never mentioned how that would win the game /. We have 12 points from 25 games .. that’s awful stats

Jay Rod going in for a few 50/50s was probably the highlight of our game today. I'd honestly pick him on that basis alone ahead of some of the others at present.

I’m not interested in what he says.
I want to see some action on the pitch, show us you are seeing the obvious things that we all see.

The invigorated the crowd and the team, with that double tackle. A proper Burnley player.

Re: VK post match interview v Arsenal
Without a leader on the pitch, and without the experience needed at this level, we really are on a hiding to nothing.
I don't feel sorry for him, as he bears most of the responsibility for where we are, but there really is precious little that he can say that will make a difference or assuage the fans.
Slagging these young lads off in public, would do more harm than good.

Re: VK post match interview v Arsenal
I don’t think dropping players serves a purpose now. VK has firmly nailed his colours to the new boys, and he has to stick with them. He’s probably hoping that the PL experience will prove beneficial for next season, but it’s a dangerous game because he is completely destroying their confidence at the same time, and running the risk of there being a real hangover going into next season.StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 8:30 pmHe doesn’t need to slag them off in interviews - he just needs to drop them from the starting XI.

Well done Radio Lancs asking about the likes of Benson not getting a game Kompany telling lies saying there’s a lot of players from last season and they’ve all been given a chance, starting to lose respect for this guy ,he talks about using his experience ,has he played or managed a team that are so far out of their depth ? probably not ,file along side Waddle,Rooney and Lampard.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 9:09 pmhttps://x.com/bbclancssport/status/1758 ... Re: VK post match interview v Arsenal
Talks like a man under no pressure from his employer. He should be under pressure to make change where needed and to acknowledge mistakes. Don’t buy into anything he says in these interviews anymore.
Re: VK post match interview v Arsenal
Why would he be under pressure when we apparently can’t vent our frustration on here or at the game?
VK just comes out with a load of horseshit, every single game. I can’t be arsed listening to him any more.

what do you expect him to say? he is obliged to do interviews contractually.
Not easy to sound upbeat after a battering like that.
As for "hot air" what would you say to appease the fans and media?

Absolutely-you cannot criticise those not performing, but what you do is show it in your next week's selection and leave them outColburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 8:24 pmWithout a leader on the pitch, and without the experience needed at this level, we really are on a hiding to nothing.

Re: VK post match interview v Arsenal
VK looked very awkward under a candid display of interviewing from Radio Lancs. I hope Pace is doing similar quizzing him on his team selection and tactics as well this morning and not letting him get off the hook so easily .When has Benson realistically been given a chance to show his ability this season ? Muric ? Has he had a chance either ? What about Zaroury ? … If we can’t beat Palace we can’t beat anyone and there must be serious questions asked soon about how he can move forward this team … I think the fairytale is over

Gary Hunt doing the interview. Not only was he a very decent cricketer for Colne, he's a massive Claret so will be asking what many of us feel from the heart..

VK has been given an easy ride with journos this season. His comments about Benson yesterday don't stack up. He says he's been given chance yet he's only started 1 game against Villa when the whole XI were poor, then

Radio Lancs interview- few more pointed questions being asked than I’ve seen.
-Not wanting to even talk about it.
-Insisting the basics are there and are right when they blatantly aren't.
-Talking about not focusing on individuals but the collective, when the collective isn't getting results.
-Saying everyone's been given a chance to prove themselves when that is just plain 100% untrue. Some players have been given repeat chances regardless of how they perform (Tresor, Ramsey, Trafford most notably, arguably Amdouni even if he is our joint top scorer), some have been given minimal or 1 chance if that (Zaroury, Ekdal, Benson) and some have been given literally 0 chances (Muric)
Yesterday I was saying I want to keep VK til November regardless. That interview has genuinely made me reconsider, because he's just not being honest at all, with himself or with the fans. I know it's a step up and a learning curve but that doesn't sound like someone who is learning, worryingly sounds like someone who might not even want to learn.
I can't believe he's actually claiming everyone's been given a fair crack to prove themselves or that we've got the fundamentals right. We're an attacking minded possession-oriented team who lose the possession battle more than not and don't create many shooting opportunities, with a world-class CB for a manager whose defence cannot defend.
45% average possession, calculatd on number of passes attempted though not time on the ball, ranked 13th. Sounds okay until you remember Kompany's philosophy is very much a Guardiola-inspired possession centric style- he's claimed he's not changed his philosophy from last season, if that's true that's an objective failure on this metric.
We're ranked 12th for touches, but- 3rd for defensive penalty area touches, 6th for defensive third touches, 13th for midfield third touches, 17th for attacking third, 19th for attacking pen- we basically only have the ball in our own box/third and the only reason we're even where we are for possession is defensive third passes.
11th for takeon attempts, 12th for successes (behind Luton for both actually) so we have players who like to dribble and are mid table at it.
12th for carries, carry distance, progressive carries.
12th for receiving passes, 16th for progressive receiving. These sets of stats look okay in a vacuum, but only if you assume every team plays the same style. If every team was attempting the same approach sure we have decent mid table fundamentals. But teams aren't. The teams that are attempting this style are way at the top of the leaderboard. Teams that attempt a more direct, less steady-passing-oriented, style are ranking above us.
The basics are not there, they are only there if you ignore reality and look at the stats while pretending every single team in the league has the same playing style as us- it's what makes it hard to say if our current playstyle even IS still a Guardiola-esque, steady passing or a mixed approach or what, because it's consistently not working. We've seen Trafford go long more the last 10 games but he's still deployed constantly for passes. We've switched to 442 but it's not a Dyche style physical direct 442, or even early Dyche style, fast breaking counter attack Vings/Vokes & Gray era 442.
I can't see how he can claim everyones had a fair chance to play or that the basics are there, with a straight face. He can't honestly believe that.
