Re: Cowards
Cowards is probably the wrong description-maybe we are lightweight and lacking quality. Who would have thought when we spent £100m in Summer that in February we would be being humiliated 5-0 and were bringing on the likes of JBG and Rodriguez. Morale must be rock bottom with players like Benson,Cullen, Cork, Muric. How long before our latest 3 recruits drop their heads. Maybe not too surprising Roberts, Zarourry and Benson so badly wanted to leave recently
Re: Cowards
Coward is the completely wrong word to use here, and with hindsight you probably realise that now.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 9:46 amI’m in knots over it. Completely knotted out of my head watching them and trying to work out who’s at fault.
Just admit it and let it go.
As fans we are all frustrated with how things have gone this season, its been dreadful hasn't it.
It will also have been dreadful for these young lads, some of whom have come in from different countries and are being played most weeks and getting hammered by both our opponents and a lot of our own fans.
The current team are nowhere near what is required in the Premier League but that doesn't make them cowards.
This is Vincent Kompany's team, as it was last season when he won all the plaudits, and rightly so, and he must now stand up and be counted and be open with the fans about his team selections all through this season.
I have never met or spoken to Kompany but he comes across to me as a very genuine person but I do wonder why at times he doesn't elaborate more about certain players and their selection/non selection?

Absolutely. Arsenal, I'd argue, are favourites to win the league and, off today's showing, are a much better all-round side than Liverpool or City.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 1:37 amI'd argue today felt like it was the most in form Arsenal team we've played in the last decade. Doesn't hide our inadequacies but we weren't facing the 'normal' Arsenal, they are bang in form having won their first 5 games of the year for the first time in their history scoring 21 goals in the process. Every chance we will lose at Palace so I'm not using it as an excuse for us being bobbins though.
Their midfield is incredibly strong, the best of the lot.

Yesterday the whole team played like a bunch of cowards. Not to say they can’t rectify if when they find their balls. It was just an observation of what I was watching .

Re: Cowards
Demoralised I think is perhaps the most appropriate description.
With their limited experience, for the most part, they will have learnt
precious and invaluable lessons which should/may drive them on to achieve
their own goals in the future.
Let's not underestimate the value of the learning curve they've been on.
It's just unfortunate that it's been, to a large extent, at the fans expense
(both financially and enjoyment wise)
Keep the faith, at least for next season.

Agreed a phenomenal club who have found form. However would Luton Town have rolled over like that yesterday at home ????evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 10:57 amAbsolutely. Great news…. You’ve found the investment opportunity of the year, because Arsenal are actually 4/1 3rd favourites for the league…..evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 10:57 amAbsolutely. Re: Cowards
He wouldn't really argue Arsenal are favourites for the league, to be fair. He was just lying.
Re: Cowards
I didn't see many cowards yesterday, especially the 1st half having gone 1 down that early, we kept going, they are just a better teamblatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 12:06 pmYesterday the whole team played like a bunch of cowards. Re: Cowards
I don’t see one crunching tackle until Jay came on. I dont see any leadership, anyone with any bravery to change the game. We didn’t have a shot on goal the whole first half. Regardless of them being a better team or not there was no fight or willingness to do anything.

Thanks for the odds, I did wonder how much there is to be made.

I should have said "my" favourites to win the league and made it crystal clear to those unable to understand the subtlety of my claim.
Arsenal, in my opinion are the stronger all round side, as opposed to the bookies' current view.
We shall see.
Sorry to get Jamesy and Co. so er, stimulated.
My bad.

Re: Cowards
That doesn’t change the investment proposition…. You’ve got a totally different view to the bookies. If they’re wrong, assuming Arsenal only have a 20% chance of winning, and you think that’s higher, it remains a good investment opportunity.
Re: Cowards
The problem is you are devoid of a sense of humour. I thought the response was very funny. Sadly it went straight over your head.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 1:43 pmAh, I see the problem.

Re: Cowards
Off Arsenal's current form, City's relative spluttering and Liverpool' s injury concerns, 4/1 is looking pretty good, I'd say.
And, yes, controversially or not, I will be backing them.

Re: Cowards
No lightening up required.
Maybe I would take it personally or even care if I knew what you were actually getting at.
Anyway, I reckon we were outclassed by the best of the PL title contenders I've seen yesterday and am minded to take the odds of 4/1 of Arsenal winning it.
Hope that's OK.

Course it’s ok. Football is all about opinions so get your money on em. Let us know at the end of the season what you plan to do with your winnings.
