3 hopes off the field
1. Better system in place for entering the ground at 2:50
2. No away fans in home end
3. All roadworks complete around the ground

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
I was going to mention this at some point but wasn't sure which thread to put it. We seem to have massively dropped our fitness standards from last season. Was the fact we had the ball for 605% of the game masking our average fitness? We seem to have has so many niggles this season, and players look shattered after 60 mins. Whereas Luton look like they have just come out of a military training campNewClaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 8:54 pm
2. We hit the gym. Look at Barkley today, looks an absolute unit, arms popping out of his shirt. Lokonga also. I saw a video pre-season of a gym session and we were lifting some feeble weights. We need to get much stronger physically and also ensure any new signings fit that physical mould.

Didn't realise that - I certainly won't write him off though in terms of what he can offer us. Hopefully a good pre-season and a bit of confidence can get him back to his best. He is a class act in that league.
Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
1) New CEO he’s clearly out of his depths and has too little experience and doesn’t care about ground safety or winning
2) Build a team not a squad of unmatched players bought just to make a profit when all we have done is de-valued most of the rest of the squad
3) minimum expectation is maximum effort and meaningful tactics

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
I think having Maatsen behind him helped him hugely, but Taylor is good at overlapping and I reckon given half a dozen games on the bounce Zaroury could have formed a decent partnership with him ,but never got the chance.jedi_master wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 10:21 amDidn't realise that - I certainly won't write him off though in terms of what he can offer us. Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
This is the point though.
He's clearly a talented player who's been horrifically managed this season, like a lot of them - he's a young lad that hd a great season and was never given a chance and now fobbed out on loan and after just a few games people are using this for something to bash him with?
What do you expect? Footy management isn't top trumps, even if MUD analytics seems to think it is.

1.A good season in the Championship again with Kompany as our manager
2. We return to the Premier league wiser and better with Kompany as our manager
3. The moaning/troublemaking/disrespectful posters on this forum dissapear.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
1) Stick with VK; the project will work. Think 'football first' and let the business take care of itself.
2) Don't make any more signings of players under 23; we have plenty... You don't need a whole squad of re-saleable assets. Signing a British 31-year-old with over 200 league appearances isn't bad. We need players to get us promoted.
3) VK have complete control of team selection. A player's age and transfer fee should not have influence on the decision to have them in the starting XI

Our opinions differ and I really cba to have an argument about it but I thought he was poor post WC for us. And in his brief appearances for us this year.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 11:35 amThis is the point though.

There’s a player in there for sure but certainly not one that played well consistently in the league below or this year to warrant being selected over Koleosho or Odobert.
I’m not using it to bash Zaroury. I hope he gets better and plays a big role for Hull. Same with Twine, McNally & Obafemi.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
My point was just more about physical size and strength more than anything else. I think we need to bulk up.Ric_C wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 9:31 amI was going to mention this at some point but wasn't sure which thread to put it. There’s a decent argument we should get back to shinpads in training and running up some hills though!!

It's really lazy this post WC thing - especially when his first game back he bagged two against Bournemouth a few games later.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 6:13 pmOur opinions differ and I really cba to have an argument about it but I thought he was poor post WC for us. I don't want a back and forth either but using that logic Odobert (who I like) and many others would've been on the bench/out of the side for a period this season as well... but here we are.
Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
Some of our young guys are getting criticised because they are expected by VK to be turning it on every week they should be coming on in games that we are winning ,unfortunately that hasn’t happened much this season,I know they’re on another level but how long had the likes of Foden and Garnacho been coming on and playing bit parts until they reached a more consistent level Zaroury and Benson haven’t suddenly become crap overnight it’s all down to poor recruitment and bad management, imagine what more senior players would have said to VK if they were treated like some of our squad ,happen that’s what’s happened with the likes of Cork and Muric.

Stats-wise in the Champ he got two goals and four assists post WC in 22 games in a team that went 23 unbeaten. He played his part in that of course but I thought he dropped off massively.
Wasn’t only him. I thought the same of THB after injury.
Like I say, hopefully a run of games and he’ll prove his worth at Hull.

Koleosho on paper this season has one goal and one assist but anyone actually watching would see that his inclusion had much more impact than the stat line would suggestNewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 6:41 pmIt’s not lazy, just my opinion on how I interpreted what I saw.

Not to mention Anass' role changed/evovled as the season progressed.
Was still an instrumental player hugging the touchline on the left for us.

Winning the league at home against Rovers and sending them down would be pretty neat.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
We get a younger but experienced enough replacement for Jack Cork - a fundamental cog that is missing.
Buy a talented left back
Keep hold of Berge

I think some have convinced themselves Rovers will win the league at our place and send us down.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
Seems unlikely!! There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be flying high next season, but I doubt automatic promotion is as much of a given as some are making out. There’s a reasonable chance one of Leeds or Soton will still be in the Championship and we would be going down with Luton and Sheff Utd as a best case scenario and we are currently a weaker outfit than one of them.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 7:01 pmI think some have convinced themselves Rovers will win the league at our place and send us down.

I agree Koleosho > Odobert. Would also say Odobert > Zaroury. I think one of the former two will go in summer so need Anass back on form and firing like he was in the first half of last year.
Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
Trim the squad to a reasonable size, as to keep player's happy. Way too many at the moment and don't think it helps with team spirit and togetherness.
New striker to partner Foster.
New left back and new centre midfielder.

Re: Top 3 hopes for next season?
Is Berge not the Jack Cork replacement, I see a few similarities between the 2. A midfield from Berge, Cullen, Brownhill and Massengo wouldnt be bad at Champ level.
Its an upgrade on Brownhill id be looking for rather than a Cork replacement. Somebody who can get around the pitch but has nore quality than Brownhill.
