Security at Turf Moor

Post by MT03ALG » Sun Feb 18, 2024 11:17 pm

I find that the security at the Turf is something of a joke. Yesterday all spectators entering the JH Upper were 'padded down' before entering. The 'Security Guy' was also about to examine my rucksack when he saw a security band attached to it so stated that the bag had already been examined and did not bother to proceed. The security tag was from the last match !! I think the tags change colour every match so possibly the security guy was colour blind....

At HT a friend of mine, who'd been searched, realised that he had his work screwdriver in his pocket!

Shows yet again that they don’t get it
The main problems have been away fans in the home ends
The 92 have segregation for a reason. The plan of selling tickets to every Scouser , Gooner or Manc who wants one is causing serious safety concerns for Home fans
Searching people outside is not the solution to the problem . Unless they’ve been made to by the authorities because of so much reported crowd disorder
Let’s assume it was the clubs policy to stop and search . I respectfully suggest that budget be used on these 2 things.

More catering staff to make queuing safer and free up concourse room
More training for our inadequately trained stewards . Greater communication means for them to radio for help. More stewards in direct proportion to the problem we’ve caused ourselves by selling to away fans

Same here Pete, went to a game straight from work unaware I’d left my work knife hanging on my pants. Didn’t realise myself until I was in my seat. And this is the CFS where we get searched EVERY game!!

It’s just a tick box exercise, anybody that actually wanted to smuggle something in would know what to do to avoid being caught.
I think you’d struggle to smuggle a person or animal in though

Totally agree about the lack of training with the stewards, perhaps it's a language issue ? They confiscated my flares, I was bloody frozen sat there in just my undies.

Just another brainfart from those running the club.

The last two home game, the Longside upper have started to get searched on the way in. I'm not sure what they are searching for as it's just a pat down.
It's yet more delays and the queues were horrendous.

The Longside lower had no stewards on, which is the most likely destination for someone wanting to run on the pitch etc..

All it did was get people angry before entering the stadium and stewards getting abuse. They kept having to tell people they were only doing their job.

We go into the Longside upper through the turnstiles closer to the Jimmy Mac end. There no searches at the Fulham game but we got caught up in it last Saturday. The pat down I received was pointless. I also had a bag and the steward asked if it had already been searched. I told him yes so he cleared me. I think it was last searched early last season.

Frustrates the life out of me. Have to queue in the CFS to be 'searched' which consists of a chap patting my shoulders and arms a couple of times to look like a search.

Not sure what problem they are trying to solve. The issues have come from corporate fans being placed amongst home fans. Still they have now made it clear they are predominantly blaming home season ticket holders for the recent trouble - and that is a disgusting way to treat your customers.

Another topic most people wouldn't be dwelling on if we were winning games.

I thought Burnley FC supported inclusively but was surprised and offended when I clearly stated that I was identifying as a female and that I should be patted down by a female but he totally ignored this and went ahead with feeling me up. :D

But that isn’t the purpose of a pat down

It might not make the messageboard, but it is certainly winding people up before the game, regardless of the result.

It would have been a bigger thread if it was the Sheffield United game, when we scored early, as thousands would have missed it in the upper longside.

Is 20 minutes in a queue acceptable when you are just scanning in?

The searching in the JHU was completely OTT.

I've been coming to Turf Moor for 55 years. Never had that experience. You do question whether to travel 12 hours to and from Burnley...stand there at the end......is really the best use of my time and money?

Oh and in my small ruksak? Toothbrush, pyjamas and overnight slippers as I found somewhere to crash out for the night. The train "service" back was never an option.

Arsenal would have beaten us in slippers. The security guard was more physical to me than any of our players in 100 _ mins

There haven’t been security checks here before. There’s trouble in that stand caused by away fans. Home fans fans are now checked. It’s pretty clear we’re the club thinks the blame lies. It certainly doesn’t fit with the club statement after the Everton issues -

“For the safety of all, it is clear that more rigorous steps are needed to be enforced regarding the process around visiting supporters on matchdays which we will bring in for our next home match.”

4 of us have been to an odd match at Old Trafford( I’ll go to confession later) and the wives when they got to the front of the queue had to take their bags to a locker I’m sure that 2 seventy year olds were a real threat to security.

Iam not even sure there was a steward at our turnstile on Saturday, and when there is he only looks in bags, and misses 3 whilst looking in one

Does stuff like this get given to the Fan Advisory Board?

I noticed that the minutes of their meetings were published on the website and the summary of the notes was essentially they got a tour of the training ground and said things would be better if we were a division below.

Apparently they also searched the players coming down the tunnel, none of them had any bottle.
